I am back on line although still without electric. We hooked up a generator to get us through the rest of the power outage. Rumor has it it could be the 9th or 10th now before our electric is restored. Will not be able to post any fishing pics today. The family will be coming tonight to swim and cookout before the parade in town. Maybe later I can post some pics of our experiences without electric. Happy 4th of July everyone.

A storm went through the area Fri. evening. It had winds of up to 70 miles an hour; knocked power out in a tri-state area. My daughter had two trees break in two in her yard. Luckily they fell away from the house. There are still several roads closed in the area due to downed trees.

Yes, The Lily Dale Assembly is the spiritual center right in Cassidaga NY. That's right where you were. It's the only place like that. Everyone goes down there for readings. It's been around since the 1800's. It's very well known in this area...

Lily Dale is actually in Cassidaga even though the address says Lily Dale NY.

HELP! i have never photographed fireworks.. does anyone have any helpful hints, i know that photogrl and bushido will be carrying two maybe three tripods with one camera... and i have used a dark card with bulb to shoot some night shots.. but can i shoot fireworks with out a tripod... and if you have any exposure hints that would be great.. have a good day some fireworks will be here tonight to practice on for tomorrow...

I was going to recommend everyone try shooting on manual with about a 1/15 shutter speed .. I shot some tonite with 1/8 ss and I haven't had a chance to look at them yet but I think I could have gone faster. Oh and I couldn't take the tripod to the game so I did it all hand held

Welcome to Day 185 :) Today it's all about Decorative Wood. This is totally open to interpretation. It could mean anything from very ornate carved wood to plain beams used in construction. Go with what you feel .. your instincts are usually always right.
Here are a few examples to get us started .. I look forward to seeing what y'all come up with.

I want that house in Olivos and the hotel in Eureka! Those are right up my alley. I'd love to know who originally owned that hotel. I wonder if it was some gold tycoon. I'd love to see the inside of that. What detail!

We thought briefly of trying to buy the old house in Los Olivos when my Aunt was living there in town, but the owner was in another state and no one else knew anything about it... it is soo sad sitting there...would have been a great B& B.. Here's the Eureka house in color - was a gray foggy day when we were there.. its fascinating.
