Wont argue with LeonS as that sounds fine, I would say have a look at the Alpha A200 on E-bay or even the Nikon 3100 should both be in your price range.

Handheld that is. I was handholding my Sigma 24-70F2.8 Hsm lens taking some nice pictures. Big mistake!! Not one sharp photo. On A tripod with mirror lockup and cable release, perfectly sharp, sharp, sharp.

Then I compared my Sigma 18-125f3.5-5.6 OS lens handheld and the photos were sharp. Same with my 70-300 OS lens.

Then I tried my f2.8 primes, 17mm, 20mm, 24mm, 28mm, 35mm, 45mm, 90mm. 17-35mmf2.8. 28-70f2.8. No Sharp photos. On a tripod they are all sharp.

So when I am going to do some handheld shooting, it's obvious to use Stabilizer lenses.

So it is true, if you really want the sharpest perfect photos use a tripod.

Wow!
Handheld that is. I was handholding my Sigma 24-... (show quote)

So if you intend to shoot hand held do not buy a prime??? sorry there must be another reason why your hand held are not sharp

Some of these lens seem a bargain I bought a Falcon 500 with T mount included, I have never been able to use it how i would like. Why did I buy it in the first place? because i joined the Hog a forum obsessed with buying new cameras and new lens, difference is though in the main, people on here know what they are doing.

You have now been told PS has a shallow learning curve and a steep learning curve I am willing to bet they both mean it is difficult,I find Picassa is simple to use and it does for me.

I really do not care what camera you get as there is very little difference in starter DSLRs.Go and hold them and choose that way, just remember there are more than two camera companies and whatever you choose enjoy.
