Well, yes you will unless you move to one of those "Banana Republics" where they are beginning to prosper. I lived in Argentina for about a year and was impressed by the growth and the standard of living that we ol duffers can have.
I grew up in Flint and worked for 7 years in Detroit Michigan. Wow, what a decline. We, as a country, could reverse things if we simply think positive and institute a can-do longer term forward program.
China, Japan and other countries have historically set long term multi generation programs and proceeded with long term positive goals (excluding WW2 and the Chinese great march forward). I notice the attitude change in the late 60s when Celanese Corp (worked there 64-69) laid off 5000 to trim and grind out more profits. That was a shock and considered as a strange thing prompting an article in Chem-Engineering News Magazine. I left 6 months before the $ hit the fan. My friends were scattered to the winds.
Unfortunately, the accountants were allowed off their stools, the trend spread and they have milked the country to the tune of an old song "rich get richer the poor get poorer." Hang a few Accountant CEO and we may do better; keep the rope handy for obstructionist Congressmen.
Argentina is a prosperous country, taxing the "rich" soya exports and taxing imports of luxury items. Lovely, President Christina Fernandez, now in her second term is up dating infrastructure and there is a great med program.
The US Congress is sort of like slum land-loards letting the building degenerate while squeezing $$ from it instead of maintaining and up grading.
Well, yes you will unless you move to one of those... (

Like you, I spent time in Socialist countries that gave their people "free" education and "Free" Healthcare and other wonders of their system. Everything went smoothly as long as their were no glitches in the world economy and everyone paid their >60% taxes. It was a funny thing, The people spent their time working on their "Black Market" and bartering skills in order to survive.
If Socialism is doing so great South of the Border, How come I have to press 2 for English?
