You certainly enjoyed an exciting career in photography, AP. The people you captured (Julia Child, Elvis, The Pope, etc) are interesting because they were all people who had a major influence on my generation. Thank you for sharing your work. You have every reason to be proud.

John

Welcome, John! I wish I had more knowledge of the computer world. I have a tremendous amount of film to attach and log into my MAC computer. I'm sure i'll get there if I do give up! AP

On assignment for UPI, Boston bureau 41 years ago, Oct. 1, 1979. Here's my photo's of Pope John's visit to the USA! His plain arrived 3:20 pm misty rain. The key shot we were told, when the Pope reaches the ground to kiss it, that's the shot we're looking for!

I was giving a special position on the rooftop at Boston's, Logan International Airport! Jim McKnight, from AP, was there with me. I made the shot as you can see, it was published page one The New York Daily New's, the next morning.

Also, when you turn the cover page to page two, inside cover, that was my photo too! Pope John with Rosalynn Carter, that was my photo also. Two cover photos, page one and two, HOWS THAT!

Photo 1 made Nikon f2 & Nikkor 600mm f5.6 and photo 3, Nikon FTN & Nikkor 1000mm f11 mirror. ASA 1250 HOW'S THAT! AP

For those of you in SoCal, there is a sleeper place that makes this with lentils.
I discovered this place about 15 years ago. When eateries are allowed to reopen it is one of the most traditional Greek places I have found. It is buried back in old Malibu.

Another delicious and healthy dish, AP. It’s interesting how many cultures use beans as the main ingredient in so many dishes. My Mom was Italian and often made white bean soup using prosciutto for flavor. You’re still a master of the pressure cooker and use it successfully in so many of your dishes. Thanks for sharing another wonderful recipe.

Bon Appetito,
John

Hello, John Lawrence and Welcome! This is a versatile recipe . . . meat or no meat! A tasty soup!!! AP

Good, important advice (re soaking). I'd just use canned white beans (or cannellinis, my favorite) and do away with the pressure cooker (which I don't possess). Nice recipe, though. Thanks.

Wecolme, RichinSeattle! I do seat the White Navy Beans just covered in Spring Water resting till I use. Veggies: I rough chop 1 lg Onion, 3-Celery stocks rough chop, 3-Carrots pealed & roughly chopped. Add to pot with 1 14oz can of veggie stock mix well!

Season with: Oregano, Sweet Basil, Rosemary, 4-cloves sliced Garlic, 3-Bay leaves, A sprinkle of Red Cayenee Pepper flakes! Scope all white beans into seasoned pot with 3-qt of spring water.

Add two 7oz cans of tomato past liquid in pot and mix really well! Pressure cook on high 40 minutes! AP

My mother made this soup on a regular basis. Never used any written recipe. It was always wonderful as were all of her Greek dishes. Thanks for reminding me of those very special times.

We compliment this with Greek Feta(not French or Bulgarian) and a loaf of home made crusty bread. My wife also makes the lentil dish Fakee which is lentils mixture( brown, green, red, or black) oregano, bay leaves, mint, salt & pepper, canned tomatoes and her secret sauce. These dishes are very healthy and provide a wealth of high nutrition to our diet. I thought Lent was over!!

Hello! Vega73, and Welcone! Very good. Lentil's are very high in nutrition and vitamins. I do not cook my lentils in water. I use Tomatoe Sauce with spring water!

Season with: Oregano, Sweet Basil, 3-Bay Leaves, Rosemary, Cayanne Pepper Flakes, 4-Garlic cloves. I do add chopped Loukaniko and 2-lbs Carrots coarsely chopped, two Celery stocks coarsely chopped!

Lentil beans are very versatile in their cooking! You made a BIG hit when choosing Lentils . . . AP

Sounds really good. I bet it would be even better with some meat. I'd suggest a couple meaty beef shanks. The marrow would make it really rich, great mouthfeel.

Steve Franz, good to hear from you, and welcome! This dinner or lunch, is best and pleasant with no meat. Maybe a sprinkle of Feta Cheese on top will do fine, nice taste! Thank You . . . AP
