Given, that after some time, when there are no conflicting findings to a theory, it is generally accepted as "proof," as is evolution, currently, but evolution remains, nevertheless, a theory.
If I may quote, "evolution is a work in progress, its script continues to be written, the ink still wet on the page."
Don't forget that Newton's theory of gravity held for 300 years, until Einstein came along with his Theory of General Relativity. And, yes, with the latest findings using laser Interferometry, at two different locations, with the same results, Einstein has been vindicated yet once again. Beautiful experiments, indeed.
Finally, yes, I do know the meaning of the word, Science. It means "knowledge." And knowledge does not always equate to "proof." The theory of evolution has been "supported" ("verified," according to you) by evidence presented from various disciplines of science, ever since Darwin first proposed the theory 150 years ago. And some of the scientific disciplines were non-existent at Darwin's time.

I am not entirely disagreeing with you, just playing it a little more cautiously.

Theory, is not fact.
It is a theory, a concept, which may or may not be accepted.
Those that accept a theory will rarely question their choice to accept a theory and always seem to accept it as fact.
When theories are proven in error they seem to disappear and are forgotten as do their proponents.
