My wife was born and raised in Lima, Peru. We're planning a trip there in November 2019. This will be my first time in country. She is adamant that I do not bring my Canon 6DII along. She's sure my camera gear will be a target for thieves. What have other readers of this thread experienced?

be aware no matter where you go but I sure would talk to my Insurer before I went?

Here in Minnesota, they light the lighthouse at Split Rock State Park once per year, on the anniversary
of the sinking of the Iron Ore ship the Edmund Fitzgerald. (yes,, the same ship from the Gordon Lightfoot song)
I was able to get up there on the 10th with several thousand of my closest friends, lol, to witness the lighting.
This is a 117 sec long exposure. I hope you like it.

While sitting with my laptop on my lap and a mug of tea in hand, I fell asleep, and the inevitable happened. I awoke to a feeling of dampness on my sweater, and the laptop had stopped working. After a few choice words, I proceeded to unplug it and wipe up the excess from the keyboard with a cloth, open the lid as wide as I could, and place the laptop upside-down over a heating vent. I tried turning it on after a couple of hours: nothing. I consulted an IT person, who told me it was toast. I put it back over the heating vent, and waited another couple of hours. After turning it on again, it got as far as showing the maker's logo, then refused to go any further. Back to the heating vent for another couple of hours. I turned it on again, and lo and behold, it booted, though it took for ever to do it. Reconnecting to the internet took some fiddling, but it eventually worked. Now it's back to normal.
Lesson: beware of liquids around laptops! My tea could have cost me about $1000, and I was lucky that it didn't.

I hope you have some sort of back up in place? just in case and up date the back of everything just knowing and some point it will likely be lost. Good time to buy and transfer to an external hard drive if you have not already done so.

Haven't posted for a while- thought I would share these four images, each of which must be downloaded for true colors because the normal mode will not display this particular color space.

The hiking was spectacular. First 2 days overcast with sun peeking through and "cool" temps just below 90. First image is sunrise on Sixshooter. Second image is a view from the 11 mile hike to Druid Arch. Third image is from an 8 mile hike to Lost Canyon. Day 3 was sunny with highs around a 100. The final image was taken that day on an 11 mile loop Chesler Park/Joint Trail. An amazing hike, but a MoFo in the heat, especially for my wife and I at age 72.

Again-Please download. Comments and critiques encouraged.
