Nice one, Alan. When shooting close ups, most camera meters misread white & red flowers & over expose the shot, which can 'blow out' the details. This is easily prevented by setting your EV compensation on (-) 0.7,
or even (-) 1.0. Don't worry if it appears a tad dark--you can always lighten it in post, if need be.

That's what I did for this one. I try to it as close as possible in the camera to minimize pp work. In this case, I took 6 shots and deleted 5. Thanks for your interest.

BTW, is that your hot rod? Looks very cool.

I think it's known as Obedient Plant, Alan, and what a beauty!

Thanks. So far I've heard Dragon Flower, Foxglove and Obedient Plant. Are these all interchangeable names or two out of three wrong?

Since I don't know what it is, I'm calling it wine cup too, and it's absolutely beautiful!!!

Thanks. I love the rich, merlot-like color.

Looks like you're doing well with your white subject photography, Alan. I keep my clipped highlights warning set on my camera and decrease the exposure when I see the 'blinkies'. You can also check your histogram for any clipping of highlights or shadows.

Thanks for the info, Donna. As you might guess, I have had no formal training in photography. People like you are extremely helpful.

The beetles, while very colorful, are voracious eaters.

This one has very tiny flowers that almost resemble orchids. Each flower is about 0.25 inches wide. They are difficult to shoot because they move easily in the slightest breeze.

Sorry about the earlier transfer problems.
Any ideas on photographing white subjects?
