Here are three photos of a Hindu Temple in an unexpected location of Rural Iowa: The Temple is located 4 miles south of Madrid and .6 miles north of the Des Moines River bridge on the west side of Highway 17.

Beautiful place of beauty. Thanks for showing. And a good tech picture. Regards

Thanks Delderby. Still slowly digesting the information in the camera's (Canon SX50) manual. Looks like it will be a fun camera to carry around, a super telephoto in it and much lighter than my big boys. :D

I read more and more really good feedbackfor the SX50. Your pic and others are pushing me to try one for myself.
Best regards

Has to be No.1 - good demo of rule of thirds - and your subject is looking in not out. Taking account of the limitations of any bridge - Top Marks,

thanks Delderby - not shore what you mean mate give me another name for film modes - do you mean video capt stills from video if so no i don't it would not be that sharp

Hi briace - I shoot a Panasonic G2, and I can choose from nine "digital films" to use, for example, "Dynamic" increases saturation and contrast, and "Nature" will give brighter RGBs. I have never used these "film" options, but I think I shall now take the plunge - I would guess that you might use the Canon equivalent of "Dynamic" or "Nature"?

Hi Briace
Would you be kind and give me a tip - do you use film modes? (although I bet you use everything the camera has to offer) Thanks

Great - the pics are alive. With that sort of software in your cameras who needs photoshop?

No, you choose the point/points, not the camera (you could though). You move the point over your target, or you can use a multitude of points (you set the number and choose which).

Thanks - I now have a better understanding. There is room for both old (focus lock) and new (moveable focus point). I think it comes back to personal preference and subject. For many moving subjects I favour focus tracking.

You missed the point (not the focusing point). You never want all the points to focus, nor were they intended to do that!

So are you saying that there is no averaging, that the camera chooses just one of perhaps 51 focusing points? and that it always, magically, gets the right one? Surely the camera would need a Wi Fi brain sensor to achieve this? OR is it still necessary to reframe to be sure? OR should the manufacturers do a better job of explaining their latest tricks for pointing and shooting?

That's just funny!

That's just negative!
I'm an unreal photographer! and an old dog using a camera full of new tricks - (which gives me much pleasure) I love digital and my 15.6" darkroom. Using spot focus (which I can quickly move around my evf) or use half button focus lock I have total focus control. I do now appreciate that others choose from their 51 points, but they must (surely) still be getting an average from the whole array, or the multi focus point system is not doing what it is designed to do?

Multi-point focus must take away the photographers control of best focus. It must also take it away from the camera. An average of 52 points just has to be a lottery. From a focus point of view (pardon the pun)it reduces any pics technical level to point and shoot, auto everything!

What a waste of beauty. Hope your very clear pic gets that message across to some so-far unblemished youngsters.

Should it be OK for the same person to be judge, jury and executioner? and should that person be allowed to react when in a state of anger? Is there no right of appeal?

"REAL Photographers"? To be or not to be - that is the question! What am I? Am I an Artist or a Scientist? Those who commented must all be "REAL Photographers" by their own vote!
Please to define an UNREAL photographer rather than a REAL one. I would have liked to say that the pics are very interesting and technically pretty good, but I would never bang my own drum, so I shall say nothing.

My Lumix G2 has never let me down or disappointed me. 95% of "Ihave a problem with my camera / lens" posts are from Canon or Nikon owners.
