Thank you 😊

I sell in galleries and online— have been doing so for years. I’m also a painter and graphic designer.

PP is a must. Otherwise just a snapshot. PP is where an artist gets to infuse his or her artistic vision into the photo. I treat my photography the same way I treat my paintings. Artistic license is meant to be used. Harnessing it to properly convey one’s feelings is as much a part of the artistic process as actually taking the photo, in my opinion.

This photo was taken at the Botanical Gardens in Sarasota, Florida. They have hundreds of different kinds of orchids and other sub-tropical plants.

As I often do, I layer high rez texture layers over top of a photo and use different blending modes to get a painterly and unique look. I handcraft all my own texture layers, and have about 200 of them now.

Photo was taken with my Sony RX1R.

I live in a very rural area of California. The gold miners came here in droves during the 1800’s... so there is a lot of history here... and a lot of abandoned old buildings, which often prove fantastic for photography subjects.

I normally carry at least one of my cameras with me at all times. In the rare case that I don’t, I rely on my iPhone 6s Plus, which has a rear camera at 12 MP.

The shot below was taken with my iPhone. This old building sits on the edge of the Mokelumne River near Electra Road in Jackson, CA. It was misty out, and this abandoned building looked so beautiful nestled in the hillside.

Hi All, I have found that using a wide angle lens for landscape shots can be either a mess with no determinable subject matter, or it can be an extremely nice way to frame a shot with leading lines into the composition, which I consider as important as color, IQ, and technique.

In the shot below I used my Fuji X Pro 2 and Rokinon 12mm f2.0. This is an outstanding lens, but manual focus only— which suits me just fine as I never use AF.

I always shoot RAW. This was developed in LR using Fuji’s Acros w/red filter.

Hi, I just joined Ugly Hedgehog several days ago— just getting around to posting some of my photos. I am a full-time artist and photographer living in the Sierra Nevada foothills in California.

I started with film photography in 1980 when I was 15 years old. I also started painting at the time, and found that doing both has allowed me to see the world around me in a unique perspective.

I have shot with many different types of cameras over the years. I no longer use any dSLR’s and have switched to mirrorless. I have a Sony RX1R and a Fujifilm X Pro 2 with a plethora of new and vintage lenses for my Fuji.

The photo below was taken not far from my house... used my Fuji X Pro 2 and Rokinon 12mm f2.0 for this shot.
