Even if the price is somewhat higher, but not outrageous, I believe that it is in one's best interest to support a local camera store. You get to handle the equipment, see it closely, and may have a very knowledgeable sales person to guide you in your purchase. You also can go back and ask for help or advice on your recently purchased item. You are also putting money back into your community. Regarding new camera's, the store may match or come close to online prices with the exception of gray market items.

I must tell you that the Altura TTL Flash cycled every time I pushed the shutter button 1 sec or less for 5 times.

This is a dedicated Flash for Nikon and Canon, maybe others. It is through the lens and has all the features of the Nikon Flashes. I have been very pleased with the flash.

The Canon Pixma Pro 10 is new and is from a three generation local respected dealer. It is being discounted and also has a rebate coupon worth $200.

As a newbie, I am wondering why I shouldn't take advantage of a net cost new of $177 for the Canon Pixma Pro 100.

Which one of these printers is the most recent? Also, since Canon is offering rebates on their printers, does this mean they are coming out with better ones in February?

I really respect the opinions in this forum, particularly when they provide details on diverse issues.

I am a newbie to this forum and I have an opportunity to get a Canon Pixma 100 for a net cost of $177 or a Canon Pixma 10 for $299. Is the Pixma 10 worth approx. $100 more than the Pixma 100. Both printersas are new USA under warranty. I am new to digital and am used to Dektol & fixer from 27 years ago. I also keep trying to adjust the aperture on the lens ring instead of the control knob.

I have a Nikon D7100 and want a photo exclusive printer. For text etc. I have an HP C6280 that is just waiting to act up again for me to take a hammer to it. I will replace it with another multipurpose printer.

I am not too bothered about the longevity issue of dye vs pigment. (I still love black and white a little more than color and realize that black and white will also fade.)

I want a 13 X 19 printer. In starting out I am thinking the Epson 3000 is considered as not a good value as the Canons because of its considerably higher price..

What would you recommend?

I believe the moderator of this forum (if there is time) should exclude persons with entries of this kind because they do not apply to photography. I believe in freedom of speech; nevertheless, the political and racist comments are not acceptable for this forum. I also have heard the "I have black friends." comments, following racist remarks, so many times I cringe at them.

I recently purchased a Nikon D7100. I rejected the kit lens and bought a Tamron 16 - 300. (Check out the reviews.) I also purchased a used Nikkor 50 mm f1.8 lens.

This was upon the recommendation of a long time respected sales clerk. Even if it costs a little more, buying from a respected camera store with knowledgeable sales staff is the best way to go. Not only will they go through the camera with you, they will also be there later to answer questions you might have. Service counts.
