If you respond to overcharged criticism, you usually lose. Ignore the trolls.

In Norse mythology, troll, like thurs, is a term applied to jötnar, and are mentioned throughout the Old Norse corpus. In Old Norse sources, trolls are said to dwell in isolated mountains, rocks, and caves, sometimes live together (usually as father-and-daughter or mother-and-son), and are rarely described as helpful or friendly. In the Prose Edda book Skáldskaparmál, a scenario describing an encounter between an unnamed troll woman and the 9th century skald Bragi Boddason is provided. According to the section, once, late in the evening, Bragi was driving through "a certain forest" when a troll woman aggressively asked him who he was, in the process describing herself:

Well, one can easily see this is sooooo much more than just a drop. Very nicely done. Would you share your setup with us?

I was backing the van out to go for a 'shoot' at the marina when I could hear these guys in the tree next to my garage. Please download for a better view.

What beautiful birds and great photos of them. I am so green with envy. I wish I could see some when backing out of my driveway too. Loved seeing them on my walks to work in Brisbane about a year ago. Can't wait to make another visit.

A shot with our pool and a storm cloud in HDR...

Really like how the detail of the God beams popped out in this photo with the HDR treatment. Very nice photo.

Another great portrait, Randy. Really do love your post work.

I also find myself in front of my fireplace this time of year awaiting something to arrive. I have yet to see anything, but figure that can be chalked up to the fact that my "position" involves a recliner. However, I have not lost my faith because every year there is something under the tree that was not there when I began my vigil. Hope to meet the jolly guy this year.

A very Merry Christmas to you and all your loved ones.

This is what I think HDR should be about. Take a rather dull scene (lighting wise) and turn it into a beautiful image. Love the way the shadow detail was brought out and the little extra "grit" adds to the image. Well done.

I haven't posted here for quite a while but it seems the group is strong and healthy with some good stuff being posted.

Cornwall is an HDR paradise, put it on your bucket list. All down the coast there are ruins of old tin mines with many many stacks like these all just waiting for the HDR photographer. You could spend months there and hardly scratch the surface of what is available.

This is a bracket of three (-2,0,+2) processed fairly conservatively in Photomatix then into Photoshop. Strong denoising in the sky but only about 25% denoising on the rest so as not to lose detail. Topaz Detail on the building but not the sky to enhance large and medium details. Then a small amount of unsharp mask and a little brightening. Hope you like it. All feedback most welcome.

Very nice photo Peter. I also would like to see the 0 EV photo for comparison. This looks like it could have come SOOC. I also like your choice of post processing tools. Much the same as I use as well. Would love to take a tour of Cornwall one day.

Really like the way that the HDR tonemapping and plugins brought out a sky that was completely gone in the normal exposure. Would not mind having a go at moving some earth with that bad boy either.
