I don't understand what you mean by "buying the wrong lens."
I have a T3i digital and it works very well with that camera. It is for use with any EOS camera.

This lens is used but in like new condition, the glass is clean and clear, free of scratches, marks, haze, dust...etc... The barrel is in excellent condition and shows no signs of handling. The USM works perfect and makes this lens incredible fast and accurate. All functions work as they should. It will not disappoint you in any way. All photos are of the actual lens and included extras.

This lens is from my personal collection. This last generation "V" version of this venerable EOS EF zoom lens is in excellent condition. I cannot find a mark or ding anywhere on it. (I take care of my equipment.) It is from the last generation and employs 2 aspherical surfaces to optical advantage and is known to be sharper than the previous generations. When considering a 28-80 only buy the V series. They are lighter, smoother, sharper and faster. You will be proud to own a lens this nice. PayPal is preferred payment. I think this lens is best bang for the buck the Canon Ef-s 55-250mm is. Around $150.00 used KEH has one at $159. My favorite accs. is an eyecup for the view finder.
