When we arrived in mid-September, we were the next-to-last visitors to go across Going-to-the-Sun road... for the year! They were closing the road early to do road work!

Road work is a huge undertaking. When you combine the terrain and weather of the area it’s a miracle it even survives. When I worked there we helped clear the road where an avalanche had occurred. What an eye opener. Trees 2 1/2 to 3 feet in diameter were snapped like matchsticks.

No one and I mean no one is as big of a liar than DJT! He knows it, you know it and the rest of us know it. He can't open his mouth to say hello without adding a lie to the sentence. What a degenerate human being this man is! How on Earth anyone sees any redeeming qualities in a person of his nature is mind boggling.

Given the polls you might be in minority.

What a coincidence. Da Nang ‘69/‘70. How do you vote from AU? I don’t know what you did but if you did more than get shot down and imprisoned you could be more of a hero than John. What we are seeing now is that many of the issues President Trump spoke of are probably true. The most glaring example is the Russia collusion debacle. John Brennan’s fingerprints are all over it including having numerous countries investigate campaign associates. Hillary and Perkins Coie, ChatGPT, the list goes on. One of my life lessons has been that the advantage of being the defendant is that you know the facts. The plaintiff has to investigate to determine the facts. That was instrumental in the impeachment where President Trump suggested that Hunter Biden’s shenanigans should be investigated. The release of the transcript called the Democrats bluff because the President knew the facts. Out of over 350,000,000 people it is inconceivable that we can’t come up with better than the two candidates we have. Of course President Biden is on borrowed time and Kamala Harris is likely to be the candidate. If you ran a Burger King you’d never hire him, ever, for any position. Former President Trump is a lightning rod for vitriol. His desire to drain the swamp has driven the swamp creatures—the unelected bureaucracy— into full time disinformation. Their very existence depends on it. Neither side has clean hands but even if you’re a diehard leftist you must admit that the legal system is weaponized and used against Mr. Trump. But we have to take our forefinger and thumb, squeeze our nose and choose. Some value competence over politics, others ignore politics and vote for proven performance. The border is my big issue, my friend believes killing babies is the big issue. Keep on truck’n

Sounds like the officials are going to let it be left there....at least for now, I guess.

So what is the source of knowledge about conditions in the US? I certainly hope it’s not CNN or MSNBC. Generally speaking journalism is dead in the US and those two networks are the proof of it. Sensational coverage sells ads. They don’t have any curiosity and are functionally the Pravda arm of the leftist agenda. Also, what do you know about the bill of rights? Do you have analogs for free speech, rights against self incrimination, right to keep and bear arms? Curious as in a different conversation by a kiwi she said she wouldn’t visit the US if President Trump was re-elected. Never quite understood why.

That is why guns may be fired underwater or in space.

It needs oxygen but not air. Sodium nitrate in the gunpowder oxidizes to create combustion.

It's pretty good here as well. February has been humid but VERY livable temps, low 30s by day and low 20s by night. (85f and 65f)

Given your weather report are you in AU or NZ. The moniker could indicate a fisherman in Texas or a guitar player with a Fender guitar.

We can’t agree because we think and feel differently. Forcing your will on others because of your uneasiness with an inanimate object is incomparable with my perception reason and rational discourse. I don’t know you but would probably not associate with younot based upon this one issue, but because it is indicative of a life view that is dramatically different than my own. That isn’t meant to denigrate you, I respect your right to have a different opinion, not so keen on your compulsion to force it on others. As I sit overlooking the Hawaiian Pacific Ocean from the lanai I sincerely hope your day is as terrific as mine.

Yeah but what about the random drunk gun owners, only too keen to semi-auto folks for no good reason?

What about the random drunk who hit a school bus? Not sure what the second part of the sentence means.

I don’t like beer. Nor wine or spirits. Alcohol makes little guys bigger and better dancers. It makes shy women gregarious. It also kills people. Kills them through cirrhosis, heart disease and other physical maladies. It kills people who intentionally drive cars while intoxicated and the victims of that choice by the 10s of thousands each year. When used in moderation it is a “social lubricant” making people interact more easily and reduces inhibitions to interactions like dating or relieves the stress of a long day at work. Excessive use may lead to anti social behavior, family problems and has even been cited as a factor in suicides. Because of this I don’t consume alcohol. Because of this I don’t buy booze. I don’t try to moralize about it. I just don’t buy it. I don’t demand other people who drink responsibility quit drinking. I support programs for education and rehabilitation but know that you can lead a horse to water….. As a student of history I know that an outright prohibition is a really, really stupid idea. It lead to increases in organized crime and encouraged lawless behavior. If alcohol is illegal only criminals possess alcohol. So given the fact I don’t like it I don’t buy it. Problem solved.

There are many weapons the average Joe can't legally own. Why are semi-autos different? Think of it as deskilling or slowing down the run-of-the-mill, regular, mass shooter.

Name a gun an average Joe can’t own. I can buy a fully automatic 50 caliber machine gun if I want to go to the expense and hassle of getting the proper permit. I’d have to pass the requisite back ground check like any other citizen. I can go to any number of ranges and shoot a fully auto Uze by paying a fee to the owner and buying the ammo. If I want a canon I can. Buy one. A Russian MIG, no problem. S what is the commonality of all these weapons? They all, each and every one of them is that they require a person to make them deadly. Ask Timothy McVeigh if you need a gun to kill a bunch of people. If you are afraid of the gun in your neighbors basement then you better stay away from planes and automobiles.
