That is one sharp capture of a beautiful dog. For those that have not done it, after download, magnify and check the water droplets by the eye. I think that's awesome!!

When I shoot Hummingbirds, I set my camera at ISO400-640, f/5.6 or if my lens will do it f/4.0 and keep an eye on my shutter speed. I use aperture priority and adjust my ISO to keep my shutter speed up to at least 1/1600th in bright areas or full sun. If the bird is sitting I can make an adjustment to a lower ISO and maybe a shutter of 1/800th. You have to learn how to change your ISO fast without looking at your camera.

Don't bother shooting birds in shaded areas unless you have a camera mounted flash. Only focus on shooting those that are in full sun. If you find a location that has hummers that isn't in full sun, mount a flash on your camera. You can't completely freeze the wings at 1/200th with flash, but you will get some pretty nice pics with some motion blur on the wings. You may have to bring your ISO up quite a lot if you are shooting in shaded areas. Use a quality flash that has the option of using HSS (High Speed Sync) I was with a friend that bought a cheap flash and it would only flash at the cameras max sync speed and the batteries didn't last very long either.********************************************************************************************************************************

These are all great shots!! We started feeding hummers and I wanted to get some decent shots so I could better try to ID the birds we get. I know that we get at least five different ones, but I don't like to call something until I'm sure of the ID. Is there anywhere where I might see more of your images?

As a Fish and Game Warden in the San Diego area in the 70's I had the occasion of literally having an Aplomado Falcon in the hand. The bird had apparently escaped from a local falconer because it had jesses on its legs. The bird in the photo looks like it could be a captive bird. The perch does not look like a perch the bird would choose. Because the legs are obstructed it is difficult to tell if the bird has jesses. The bird I captured in the 70's was identified by the San Diego Natural History Museum where it was delivered, screaming, to a person who worked there and was a licensed falconer.

I also have had the surgery done on both eyes with the immediate improvement in color quite dramatic. Shortly after, scar tissue built up in one eye, but was quickly corrected with a few shots from a lazer. The lenses that were put in slightly magnify things, like small animals and birds. When I asked the doctor about the magnification he told me yes, but that I would not notice it. He asked me what looked different and I told him about the birds. After more than sixty years of looking at birds my brain needs to reset to the new sizes!

I want to thank all the folks that have responded to my post. The only regret that I have is that my little friends lashes do not really show. I'm trying to send a cropped version that may be better.

I've been trying to load this picture for longer than I want to admit, last try. The tiny feathers around this birds eye look like eye lashes to me!

Number 1 jumped right out at me. If it were mine I would start by cropping out the tree on the left. I wish it was my image because it certainly would not be "garbage"!!

I hated school.....and at 69 it is still with me. I never wanted to learn manual cars....I never drove one. Could have bought a manual at any time during my life....but I never wanted to learn. I have a remote with my tv.....I could get up and change the channel each time....as with the voice....but choose to do it the "auto" way and use the remote. If "auto" on a camera was sooooo bad as I'm hearing here....why do sooooooooooo many people use it?

The answer to your original question is no, there is not a filter that will automatically give you the results as presented in the photo. By the way, God never made a mechanical camera, only humans do that. Keep your camera on auto and click away and I'm sure at least you will be happy with your results!!
