The Kodak Brownie came out around 1900. Everyone could afford a camera all of a sudden. Did it put all of the studios out of business?
Depending on the time of day when you are in the North Dakota badlands and Theodore national park you may want the filters. The ND prairie is wide open and the skies turn out very white and bland when exposing for the landscape. Also when you are near Yellowstone check out "Sinks Canyon" near Thermopolis Wyoming. Extremely photogenic and a great place to explore. Not as popular so less tourists in the way but a great picnic spot and a trout pool.
