Thanks! This was taken on a chair instead of the table since I was trying to get the dogs to cooperate. I had the chair in front of a window so it is natural lighting. I just put black velvet over the back of the chair for the black background.

My photography class Facebook page is trying to help us stay busy in lockdown. So they put up a bunch of words and we all had to pick one. Mine was "Meat". After trying to do this shot with 3 different dogs who ran around uncontrollably at the smell of beef and bacon, I fired those models and hired the cat. Got the shot in 10 seconds. Pick your models wisely! Anyway, this is what I came up with. Just something fun to do when you can't get out. If someone wants to try it, they could close their eyes and pick a word from a magazine or dictionary and base a photo on that word. It's just fun and gets you thinking.

They look like fingers from the right hand. Would you use that hand to cover your lens?

Spent 2 hours in the bathroom with a load of water balloons. I hung the balloons from a tripod over the bathtub, camera on another tripod. Messy but fun. Most of the mess came from filling the balloons and having them pop or fly out of my hand, water going everywhere. This photo is the best of the bunch and I know it's not perfect. Wish it was a little sharper. You can see the pin on the left. I edited out my hand. It was fun and I'll try it again someday! Outside!

I can store the original...I think...I will look. The instructions said to use the finished version...or, perhaps I misunderstood? This is my first time posting here.

Cars' headlights lights...there were more reflections but I thought they were too distracting. I'll go look for the original. might be a bit difficult as I have a habit of taking multiple shots of the same view.

After you hit "choose file" and attach your photo, click the box that says "store original" before you add the attachment. That lets us click on it and enlarge it to see it better. Great shot!!

Here's the before picture. After taking this picture, I removed her and the props and took a picture of just the background. Then layered them in Photoshop, created a layer mask on this photo and brushed out the props. Pretty easy. Got the Alien from the internet. lol

Forgot to include the background photo for the alien picture. Notice she didn't bother cleaning up her room much for the photo shoot. lol

Thanks, everyone. This is pretty simple to do. Just two layers in Photoshop. Take one photo of your subject and the props, then remove them and take a picture of just the background (camera on a tripod and don't move it between shots). Apply a layer mask to the layer with your subject and just brush out the props they're standing on. Since you can't get Aliens anywhere now, I had to look for one on the internet. :) I'm including the "before" shot so you can see what I removed, and also a few others we took yesterday. Fun project if you're bored or need to entertain the kids and grandkids.

Update: All of our schools have been cancelled for at least 3 weeks due to Coronavirus, along with all sports. So our lax season is on hold for now. Thanks to all for your advice, which I'll put to good use whenever the season starts up again. Appreciate it.

Love all this advice! Thanks to everyone! I have about 3 weeks until the first game. Next week is regular practice with girls divided into JV and Varsity (indoors a lot this week due to weather). So I have some time to get out and do some shooting during regular practices on the field (if the weather gets better!...lots of snow today). Thanks again...a lot of great and helpful information!

Pretty sure they aren't going to let me behind the goal. Girls don't shoot as hard as boys do (my son played for 8 years) but behind the goal is still a dangerous place to be. It's also where I would like to be. lol. But I'll have to find a different vantage point. Thanks for the advice!
