Travelled all around Europe with a full frame camera plus a 24-105 lens. Never a problem. However, both my son and I were pick pocketed in Athens and I in Lisbon both times on public transportation. They are very good and had no difficulty getting into my zipped fanny pack carried in front. When I spoke to the tourist police, they advised that certain lines are known to be hotspots. My advice: speak to the hotel porter who will likely know the areas to avoid and in any case avoid crowded areas.
I just turned 80, with two artificial hips, but otherwise athletic for my age. So my camera choice is an R5 with the trinity if I travel by car and a micro 4/3 system if I travel by air.
Your problem is not just the loss or damage of the checked in camera equipment, but more importantly not having a working camera on your trip.. Insurance will not help. So your real ‘insurance’ is having a second camera micro 4/3 or the Sony RX 100(any iteration) and check in your main equipment in a pelican case.
Oh, and all OMDS Pro lenses will continue to be weatherproof. This offers an alternative to the most expensive Pro lenses and a step above the non-Pro lenses. It is called "good marketing".
May wish to consider an olympus om D E m5 mkiii with leica 100-400 ( effective 200-800) lens. I use it for bird photography and I find that in good light the results are excellent.
Depends on the contract of purchase. If the right to return is unconditional then yes, it is your choice. If not, then it is a matter of interpretation whether by reason of the cosmetic issue the representation of the vendor is false.
You are complaining about a cosmetic issue. Does the camera perform as it should? I have the RX 100va. It is an great camera I would loath to let it go by reason of cosmetics
I have the RX 100 Va. which has the same features as the RX 100 VI but for the lens which only zooms to 70 instead of 200 but it is faster. Excellent carry around camera. I also have an Olympus 5D mkiii and a Canon FF. They each have their purpose but for sheer portability they cannot beat the Sony
I don’t think anyone mentioned the Olympus micro 4/3 cameras. Small light with an excellent lens selection. I normally shoot with a Canon R5 but I find that the IQ is close and with Lightroom enhancements the pixels are similar as well.
Thanks. Yes I shoot in RAW. As usual excellent advise. Makes logical sense. I find I need De Noise if I shoot with my Olympus MFT but not when I use my FF Canon cameras.
