I've noticed the same thing at some IndyCar races like the one on Sunday at Indianapolis.

Except for Fujifilm which has some seriously good APS-C lenses, most of the other brands have not made their best lenses in APS-C. So, with my Nikons, I buy FF lenses and use them on both formats. Mostly, I use the D500 for auto racing and the D850 for everything else.

There was nothing like the sound of a V12 engine at full song. While the Cosworth V8's were pretty much the engine to have in the late 60's and early 70's, the distinct sound of a V12 could be heard anywhere on the course.

I saw one of these in 1965 at Cross City, Florida. This one looks in pristine shape. Ought to sell for a bunch of $$$.

Excellent work, John! In this day of AI, why should anyone care whether it is photoshopped.

I recently watched some side by side tests made of the Leica Q2 and Q2 monochrome cameras. The conclusion was that the monochrome camera was able to capture images 1.5 stops higher ISO without showing noise. It is known that B&W noise is less apparent in an image than color noise so I surmise that the noise is there but is less visible. For those who want to maximize the picture quality of their B&W images, it would make sense to use the monochrome version. But at a greater cost and losing the ability to shoot color with the same camera. That decision should be left to the photographer. I applaud Leica for pioneering the monochrome cameras and now Ricoh Pentax. If it proves to be profitable to the companies, then we might see lower cost cameras in the future.

Originally, it was vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry. What it is today is anybody's guess.

I use my strap for safety in case my camera slips out of my grip.

I have read numerous articles and descriptions of varioous lens focal lengths and nearly every one describes the 50 to 55 mm length, on a full frame DSLR, as the one that most closely matches the field of vision of the humn eye. I question whether or not that is really accurate. According to medical text books the human field of vision, with both eyes, is approximately 130 to 150 degrees wide, more or less. What I find in lens reviews is the 50 or 55 mm prime lens has a field of view of only around 40 degrees. Why is there such a discrepancy? A wider angle of view, say of a 35 mm on full frame, would more closely approximate the central portion of the viewed area of both human eyes together.

I know there is some edge distortion with wide angle lenses, 35mm or wider, but I would attribute that to the view being focused on a flat plane rather than on a curved plane like the eye's retina. Just a couple random thoughts that flow through my mind.

A “normal” lens is one whose focal length is the diagonal of the sensor of the camera. The sensor size is commonly known as the format. A full frame DSLR sensor is 36mm by 24mm. So "normal" for a full frame digital camera is 43.27mm

As a boy growing up in Tampa, I had four of these in my yard. It was a race to see whether I was able to get some to eat or the Blue Jays. One had real light meat that was similar to a pear.

For me, the issue is which OS thinks the way I think. Computers, at their core, are really quite similar, but the OS is what everybody is talking about. I use both depending on where I'm at. So, for me, it comes down to two basic things: 1)how often I need to fix something and 2)who is going to pay for it. I'm glad that, at work, I have a whole team of techs who can fix anything. At home, I'd hate to spend a lot of my money fixing the beast. So, I'm a Mac guy at home and a PC guy at work. The Mac just gets out of the way and seldom breaks down. Both my Macbook and my iMac are over 8 years old and they still get the job done. Both are just platforms that support the programs I use daily. The real juice is the various programs I need to do my job. I fight with the programmers every day to fix problems there so I am more efficient. At home, I get to select the best programs myself.

I have a good idea. We can sell cameras. To get customers we will build a review site with "BUY" links to our store. But, don't tell anyone that we own the review site.

I had no idea that Amazon had anything to do with them. I didn't see their price listing at the bottom as anything other than a choice to go to buy. Since the whole web is loaded with advertising, I didn't see that as anything special. I've always bought at sites where I could get a good price and Amazon has been good for me since I don't have a very wide market to choose from locally. B&H, Adorama, KEH, and MPB are my main locations for gear and probably always will be. DP Review was for getting info on a product.

If I wanted to know the specs on a camera or lens, DPReview was my go to site. I'll miss them.
