need help. B&H has a refurb'd Nikon D810 I'm interested in. forgot what year the 810 and 810A came out. it's shutter count has 2150. Does the camera still have some life in it for limited photography use or not much ? thank all you hogs for your help in advance.
What came to mind when I saw this is that this was going to be a big hit at the Olympics. Maybe next year?
While the news has been talking about the disappointed athletes, and rightfully so, what about the photographers and others who have been preparing for the last four years.
Has anybody here been planning on being at the games? Anyone cancelling their order for this lens?

hi Bill, I know this is a good new lens. I have my 18-300 I'm happy with that I will use when the Olympics come to Los Angeles 2028. of course something better comes out before then, lol.
Wondering about anyone's experience using this lens as a single all around, relatively light weight travel lens versus taking two or three other lenses to cover the same range? I intend to mount this lens on Nikon Z50 with the FTZ adapter. My chief concern is image quality though I know that a super zoom like this will necessitate some compromise in this regard. I just don't want to spend $ on poor-fair lens and certainly can wait for the Z mount 24-200 full frame lens (which would be a 36-300mm lens on the Z50 crop sensor) coming out purportedly next month if nothing interferes with it's release. The 18-300 offers a better range, availability, similar weight and is ~1/2 the price and would be a good single lens solution for travel for me unless you Ugly Hedgehogs feel it is not worthy. Thanks for your comments and advice.

it's a good lens. bought it for trip to Italy. didn't go yet was supposed to last summer. not sure now even this summer. maybe next summer. anyway been using it a lot anyway on both my D3300/500. and its cheaper than the 18-300 3.5/5.6 . not a pro shooter so I didn't need the extra f/0.7 difference. good luck.
I have had a D500 camera for several years. I want to invest in a full frame camera in the future. So far i have only purchased FX lenses for my D500 because of my future ff camera purchase.
By the time your future comes around Nikons new D6 will have been out for however long. cam stores taking orders for it now ($6500). D5 still available for $1000 less. former top o the line model, lol. just my $.02 . oh and its a FX. :-)
Looking for a case for my nikon 200 to 500 lens.Want something that will protect it more than the cloth case that came with the lens.Anybody use a lowepro?
asked my local camera shop the same. Nikon hard case for 400mm also fits 200-500mm I was told.
Any film shooters out there? If so what do you shoot with? I shoot mainly medium and large format B&W.
took my Nikon EM out of the closet twice last year. camera still works great. reminded me how to use manual, lol. I should try my dads Nikon FE and Kodak retina reflex I inherited. also have 3 Canon film cams and a Pentax and Minolta looking to sell.
I use two Nikon lenses for landscape, the 24-120 f4 and the 16-35 f4. both are tack sharp.
just curious on your thoughts/opinion of Nikons 24mm pc lens for building real estate type of "landscape" photography. (or the 45mm pc/85mm pc lenses).
Ok. This is a follow-up post. I got a lot of great feedback on my previous post for suggestions for my first full frame camera. Many of the suggestions were for mirror-less. I have changed my opinion on mirror-less, but have decided to stay with DSLR. I am still stuck on the Canon 6D Mark II, but I would like some crossfire from those that like Nikon. Let's go with pros and cons 6D II vs. Nikon D750! Go!
my 2 cents for what its worth. didn't Nikon just come out with D780 or am I seeing too many numbers, lol, and now the flagship D6 ??
I shoot Nikon (D750) - Sports & wildlife - been looking for couple of months at Nikon 200-500 or Sigma 150-600 both Sports & contemporary version. Have held all three and still cannot pull the trigger. Hopefully UHH can provide real world advise.
my 200-500 goes great with my Nikon cameras. just my 1 cent worth.
After I responded to your question I took a trip down memory lane. Here are a few pics taken with the Nikon A900. I bought the Sony RX10 MKIV recently and was prepared to complement that with the RX100 MKVII (which I know is the cream of the crop), but I 'm so pleased with this Nikon I just can't pull the trigger for the RX100. The Nikon has 20 megapixels, 5 axis vibration reduction, 4k ultra HD video, tilt screen, built in Wi-Fi & bluetooth and a 35X super zoom!! That's 24-840mm.!! Pretty impressive in my book. It also has a great little macro mode. I've seen them going for in the $200 range. Good luck in your quest. I just saw a refurb. on ebay for $175.

just curious, where were these cool pics taken (include cities if possible)
Thanks, just checking. Happen to have it leftover from my Nikon days just wondering if it would work. Don’t really use/need a flash much at all. Thanks again for the sage advise.😉
what was your old Nikon days film camera ? I still have my dads FE and my EM. I occasionally pull out mine.
BTW I still have my 50 MM F1.4 lens for. my old Nikon F. Thanks for any help. I bought an adapter from China, but can't figure out how to use it. It doesn't seem to recognize the lens. It says it was made for Nikon F lenses.
made for Nikon "F lenses" ? or Nikon "F mount lenses" ?? BTW I have my dads FE and my EM both w/ the 50mm 1.8 . I wouldn't mind the 1.4, lol. you might try B&H.
