I taught beginning and advanced photography for several years and often had students who could afford, and bought, the latest in equipment, but were and would always be lousy photographers. It wasn't their fault in many cases because they never studied composition or lighting or any of the other things that characterize good photographers -- but they sure had the best equipment. I am always amazed by the members of this group who gladly specify the kind of equipment they own but never talk about their work. To me, it's like a woodworker bragging about the shop equipment he owns, but an inspection of his work shows that he doesn't produce better quality products than someone with much cheaper tools.

When I was a teenager I worked in an auto repair shop where the owner paid more attention to the quality of work the workers produced than he did to their toolboxes. Sometimes, he said, a better toolbox just meant they had better credit or more money in their pockets that the other mechanics.

Just observing.

London is fine and dandy, but I feel about it much as Lord Sefton did about the first World War, - My Dear, - the Noise, the People!
Much better a Spring day in the Cotswolds(q.v.) - even without the Bugatti. . .

I understand.
I am a city rat at heart. I am a street photographer and spend as much time as I can on the Seattle streets.

Thank you.
You are kind, as I would expect of a man of such discernment, but I do still have a couple of rolls.
My trouble is more like that of a man who has a Bugatti full of petrol - and nowhere to go. . .
Kind regards,
G.

Your not tempted to spend every minute roaming between the 100 or so camera stores in London and taking pictures in between?

Confirm your opinion Mamiya 6.
Exquisite camera.
When I think of mine loaded with Neopan 400, I could almost weep . . .

Now I'm going to really make you cry. I still have 41 rolls of Neo 400 in the freezer. I use it sparingly when I feel nostalgic.

Great cameras.
Owned a 503CW and H1 with Leaf 75 back.
Traded all in for a Mamyia 6 (rangefinder). Picture quality as good or better and a fraction of the weight and price.

I have never used one. However, I was recently in a Verizon Wireless store, and they had a poster for a new phone (don't remember if it was Apple or Samsung) that had a camera attachment with a Hasselblad logo on it. I don't know if this is really made by Hasselblad, name licencing, or ???.

Has any one seen this yet. If so, what is your reaction?

I have one.
Needed a new phone and Verizon offered me a deal I couldn't refuse for the phone and camera. Fun camera. Licensed and made to Hasselblad specs. by SOMEONE. Its a real dedicated camera that only uses the phone's battery and LCD. Shoots Jpeg and/or RAW. Auto or manual white balance and color or B&W.

You can always get a nice sandbag (camera supply houses) and just lay it on the window sill and nestle the camera into it for stability.

Your only as old as you think, feel and act.
When in town yesterday doing my typical street photography thing and was approached by a young couple in their late teens. They must have identified me as a photographer with some degree of basic knowledge based on the camera around my neck (Alpa 6C). They asked if I would take their picture in front of a landmark using their camera. I gladly took their Polaroid SX70 and produced a great memory for them. I run into the younger generation every day downtown with film cameras of one kind or another.

Life is good.

Quoting from LensVid:

"Cameras are for older people – you can’t see this in the numbers but we clearly see this all around us – aside from the professional segment – dedicated cameras do not interest the younger generation. The people who are still interested in photography are typically around the ages of 40-60 or more – the same people who maybe shot with analog cameras as youngsters and now have the time and money to invest in photography as a hobby – their children and grandchildren are far less interested in cameras and prefer to use their smartphones."

In other words, as we die off, so will the camera business.

Cameras are for people that enjoy photography. I live in a large, tourist oriented, metropolitan area see just as many young people as older walking the streets taking pictures with dedicated cameras.

Good God. You young people are a little sensitive aren't you? Canon and Nikon have both reported a drop in camera sales. Why? Cellphones. Are they cameras, yes. Would I own one, no. I do not need instant gratification. I am not so important that I can't miss a phone call. I absolutely hate to text. I have a 27" 4k monitor, if I want to find something on the computer. and if I am going to take a picture, I will use my Canon camera. And depending on the situation, with the lens I feel with be the best choice. And there lies the difference, my choice. I had a cellphone and threw it away.
Now to what the Gentleman wrote, if you look to see who posts pictures and who replies to posted pictures, the majority are people are around my age. In their 50's and 60's. We do have more disposable income. We have more time to pursue photography. We are not a cell phone culture. We tend to look up instead of down, at a little tiny screen.
As to who makes the sensors, who cares. I am sure it is a camera company, that is basic economics. Supply and demand. They would be foolish not to produce one.
I am so sorry your little feelers get hurt when, old guys like me, with cameras. Laugh at your cell phone. Make a duck face, take a selfie and chill out.

When you said "We tend to look up instead of down" you said a mouth full.
