If you have a lens shade on your lens , no reason to add another piece of glass [ or plastic ] to the lens . Never ever had an issue with hitting the lens on something . But since it is an non starter with you , why even asking .

Thanks for your reply.
The non-starter is whether I use a filter or not. I will..no matter what. I have had experience with the filter protecting the lens--of course when dropped. While a lens hood works as well, it is not always on--especially when indoors.
So my 'asking' is regarding the two filters..and I have received some great feedback.

I have both B+W and the Hoya HD3 UV filters and both are good filters, but the Hoya HD3 filters do a better job of repelling dirt.

Cheers,

Thank you Kai. Great feedback.

Both Hoya and B+W make good filters especially if you buy the top of the line of either (which it appears you have). I usually buy B+W filters but I have purchased Hoya. As long as they are in good condition, I would use them indiscriminately.

Thank you.

I have both Hoya HD3 UV and B+W XS-Pro 007M MRC Nano Clear 77mm filters.
I have always used the B+W filters to 'permanently' sit on my lens.
And have not used the Hoya Filters--for no special reason other than I had the B+Ws first.
I'm expecting to receive my Z24-120 S this week and will use one of these filters.
(These 77mm filters were kept after I sold my 28-300)
Does anyone have recommendations for one or the other? Not using any one of these is a non-starter.
Thanks for your help.

shared albums count against your iCloud storage so not an option. I have over 55K images in Photos and and 500k total. While I don’t want to share all of those I do want to share a bunch. I stopped using Google Photos (which never let me do raw image storage anyway). I am an Amazon Prime member so I have been trying to use Amazon Photos but it has a 5GB limit on videos and then stops uploading photos as well. Does Raw as well as jpeg, png and tiff. The problem with it is this a end of life issue that when I die (74 now) I want my family to be able to see images online and to do that with most solutions they have to pay at least $120 (cost of Prime and also SmugMug which I am looking at right now even though it doesn’t store raw images without increased cost)

I am hoping in the 2 years since I posted this someone has a solution?

Thanks in advance,
shared albums count against your iCloud storage so... (show quote)

Actually yes.
First, I don't automatically upload iPhone photos to iCloud.
2nd, I download my photos to CP1. Organize and edit those that I choose to share with others.
3rd, I export my RAW edited photos using a 'Web View' preset into large .jpg files.
4th, I import these into Photos. These files are now in my Photos Library.
Now this is the key.
I have standard albums that I share with certain people. And I create special albums for others.
I 'upload' the selected photos to the Shared Album. I do not let people 'post' to my album.
Once uploaded, I double check the Shared Album to make sure it is how I want it to appear. I also allow a 'public website' to be created that I may share with non-Apple users.
When you invite people to view/and or download from a Shared Album, the jpgs are in the 'Cloud'.
Now, I go back to my Library and select all the photos I imported and uploaded to the Cloud.
I then delete them.
Don't worry, the corresponding jpgs in the Cloud are unaffected. However, the Photos Library no longer is taken up with the storage of these files.
Believe it or not, this is an Apple 'hack' to avoid limitations.
Not only have I confirmed this with Apple; but I have hundreds of albums over the years with untold amount of GBs, and have never been confronted with a restriction.
Hope this helps.

A little south of Weehawken, is Steven's Institute of Technology in Hoboken.
Near the admin building is a nice lookout spot called Castle Point.
It's pretty much straight across from the Empire State Building, for a Midtown skyline.

Thanks for the suggestion. My son lives in Hoboken and this will be a nice stop on a nice day when visiting.

Instead of going on and on..tell them what you expect. Don't wait for them to meet your expectations.

I would accept that if they are paying the shipping both ways which has not been offered at this point. If they were to say something like we are sorry for our mistake, we will be sending you a pick-up slip and shipping you a new unit, fine but to state implicitly that they shipped a new unit, well, I'm sorry but that is like calling me a liar.

I think that you are too sensitive.
If the only thing wrong is the Customer Service reps 'choice of words', then big deal.
No one called you a liar or doubted you. His information was that it was new.
He offered you to return and replace. This is something you should immediately do unless you actually do not want the new unit anyway.
How many of us have had a similar experience? Contacted customer service. Received a similar response. And did the exchange? Mistakes in the warehouse happen. B&H is not trying to pawn off used, bad, or open box merchandise on you. This is good customer service.
I wish as the New Year begins, this was the worst thing happening. Alas, not.

I understand that we all have various amounts and types of photographic equipment.
Where do you keep the equipment?

I keep my camera with two lenses, batteries, CFE/SD cards, polarizers for lenses, pocket rocket, 'pen cleaner', Zeiss pads-in my Peak Design 10L sling by the front door; and other lenses and flash in a cabinet also by the front door. Easy to change equipment as needed.
