Wonderful images, these never get old! I’m still waiting to see a liftoff of that water tower; however…..🙄 I was a Capt. In USAFR in the 70’s but never got to se a live launch… closest I’ve been was a few weeks ago when a Starlink going into orbit was visible in AZ during a launch from (I think), Vandenburg. Awesome stuff! The Falcon is very impressive. Thank you.

Thank you!

NO WAY!!! It's impossible to get photos like that with a Nikon mirrored camera!!! Not to mention IMMORAL!!!

I got some photos from Patrick Space Force Base (with a D500). A lot further away and not nearly as good as yours. You did good with the primitive equipment that you were forced to use!!
NO WAY!!! It's impossible to get photos like that ... (show quote)

Thank you!! I have a friend who shoots with a Nikon P1000 (?) that has an effective 35mm range of 24-300mm. He shoots from his condo balcony railing and a tripod, but is 6-8 mi away on the other side of a river in Titusville. For shooting 4 mi away, your images are superb IMHO. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for your interest and kind comments
John. Stop by and critique my web. Www.johnhouckphoto.com. not trying to sell anything. Just trying to share my views of this magnificent world we were given to steward

I used both a Nikon D500 for speed and reach and a D850 for sharpness. I used a NIKKOR AF-S 200-500mm 1:5.6 E ED. F stop from 5.6 -9, shutter from 500 - 1600 and auto ISO to account for the speed and rapidly changing light. Very similar to the settings I use when shooting jet air craft at airshows. I hope that answers your question.

I was shooting from the bleachers which were as close as NASA would allow -- 3.9 miles

I made the trip to the space coast again to try and get these. Success at last. Size on many is over the posting limit so I tried to go through and pick out some quickly.
