Is there a way to add my own sky photos to the limited sky selections available in Photoshop Elements? I've tried several approaches, but have been unsuccessful. Would appreciate help.

Mark

Yes there is in photoshop 2023..Edit ,sky replacement in the selection for skies click the the arrow to the right of the sky selections it will bring up a menu below the images click the plus button . Now chose one of your images with the sky you want . That's it . easy peacy I would think it works the same in PSE .

Don't ask me why; I'm not sure I know myself. It just came to me that I'd like to take a photo of a hallway inside a school building.

These days, I fear that's more of a challenge than it used to be. School security and fear of strangers would likely prevent me from accomplishing this goal. I have no problem approaching school officials with a request (school is just starting again around here) but I'd be hard pressed to explain why.

What would you do? Alternatively, can you think of something that resembles a long school hall?

If you have Photoshop you can create a hallway with vanishing point in the filters dropdown . all you need is an opening with two doors or one door and clone it to the other you can now create a hallway as long as you want .There are many videos on using vanishing point .Here is one . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JJVAts6NG0k

What is wrong?

If your fantastic super duper digital camera and hyper sharp lenses are so awesome why does everyone need AI sharpening and all these other dozens of programs to fix the utter failures of their equipment performance?

SOOC should be just fine from your $6K cameras and $12,000K lenses.
But apparently they are hardly sharp at all and desperately need lots of help.
Or is it such poor technique with all this super equipment that the photos need salvaging?

A friend wants to know.
What is wrong? br br If your fantastic super dupe... (show quote)

One reason for sharpening software and why I use it is to print Large not 13 x 19 But 4 feet ,5 feet ,6 feet and 8 feet long and up to 44 inches tall if paper and 40 inches if it has a wrap for Gallery Wraps . I print these more and more as people want to fill a space with something comforting to look at . One customer wants to print 18 x 24 but wants to crop the bird or animal tight throwing away the rest . So I upsize and sharpen to 32 x 48 to crop to his 18 x 24 . It works out better than croping first .

"Green Man" of the forest .. #2 image This a tall Pano before without the Green Man it was hard to make small it prints 80 inches tall 16 inches wide .. Image 1 "The Dream" While doing star fields on Shired Island Florida with a 30 sec exposure this couple walked past Me shaking the pier when I opened the Image they were standing at the end long enough for a faint exposure . The pier was out of focus though so using a plugin by Redfield called Fractalious on a separate layer I lowered the Opacity till the pier had a dream look . When given lemons make lemonade .

What are good landscape subjects for flat lighting? We get a lot of that here on the Oregon coast in the summer. Do you try to pull something up in the foreground for a focal point using a wide lens or look for ways to stack the perspective with a telephoto? I know, I know, it "depends" but for me it’s a real challenge to come up with good ideas. I’d like to know your experiences or just thoughts and ideas. Thanks.

If you have current Photoshop 2022 . save your lightning sky's in a folder shoot all the nice landscapes you want then edit them and use sky replacement feature and boom you adjust foreground and background for lighting and color . good luck . Or try https://eyeq.photos/perfectlyclear one touch photo fix

I'm looking for opinions on whether it's best to resize an image (up-res) before or after making further adjustments in Photoshop or ACR. And do you think it makes a big difference. Thanks.

Upsizing is usually used to make images Larger for printing is mostly done after editing to print larger . In some circumstances I have a customer with a 16 x 24 native image that the image of the bird is only a small portion of the entire image and he wants a tight crop of just the bird on a branch . So I increase the image to 32 x 48 to get the crop at 18 x 24 . The program I use is On1 resize originally called Genuine fractals and claims 800% above native and has settings for eliminating halos from over sharpening . I have used it from when I first learned of it with my first digital camera a D300 .It came out around 1996 . It has a gallery wrap program and a Tiling program also . Always Denoise first you do not want to multiply noise by upsizing later . It just makes it harder to get rid of . I print up to 44 inches X 8 feet I can go larger but need a longer table . Most of what I print weekly are canvases and now silk like fabric made of polyester a very fine weave that increases retention of detail . This is the only resize program I use .CanonIPF8300 and a Canon PRO4000 .

What do you all recommend for a landscape lens for a Nikon D850 with lowest distortion? I am thinking a zoom in the range of 18-35 or thereabouts. And yes, price is a factor.
I agree with a previous stated 14-24 f2.8 nikkor it is a amazing lens This image was shot this past weekend in St. Marks Florida behind the Lighthouse it is a stitched 3 panel Panorama cropped in height . Shot @14mm F13 . second Image @Dallus Creek Florida same lens @ 14mm . First image auto correction for distortion in ACR before stitching .I hope this helps with your decision .This lens can be found used under a thousand dollars I bought it for $1400.00 refurbished from Nikonusa .

ANS: Syncing and presets.

I don't use ACR enough to know how it works today, but if my assumption / understanding is accurate, you can't "sync" the RAW edits of one image across all the similar images. So, you're stuck editing each image individually. By presets, I don't mean the 'photography style' versions you can buy online. Rather, I mean presets that will apply a common look and feel to my images, using predefined Noise, Sharpening, Clarity and Saturation settings applied to my images between the catalog import step and the detailed image-specific editing. LR Presets being a way to 'automate' the application of a standard inventory of settings to images.

LR is particularly helpful to the high(er) volume RAW shooter. You might find Bridge remains your preferred culling tool. As a standalone LR6 user, I used another product (FastRawViewer) for culling prior to importing into LR. When I end up with a stretch of similar images, all seemingly candidates as 'best' of the sequences, such as below, I edit one and then sync those setting across all the images. I then use LR's compare tool that let me look at the 1:1 pixel-level details of the two images at a time until I find the one best keeper, an example compare shown in the second screen capture.

Sorry but yes you can "sync" the RAW edits of one image across all the similar images. I do it all the time particularly useful when importing images to be stitched single row or multiple rows do all your edits even lens correction on all images . Just choose the images in bridge and export to photoshop edit one image in ACR right click the image you worked on , in the drop down drop down menu click select all then click SYNC settings and all settings are done to each raw file . Photoshop preferences must be set up for opening all images in ACR first .
