I have drafts show up when I get distracted and start working on something else or forget to hit SEND when I'm finished.

That's exactly what I thought drafts folder was for - you start to draft a message or reply and didn't send or the message could not be sent so it is there for another try until it is sent or deleted.

Only for very occasional jobs that last less than an hour each

I did my granddaughter's HS formal pictures but kept the R5 on a tripod tethered to my laptop and from there to the big screen TV. Not sure it helped a lot but at least my daughter could make adjustments to her youngest child's posing as we went along. Shame she missed the flyaway hair though. Small details are hard to fix later on. For group pictures I set the phone up to communicate with the camera and hand my phone to a person on the front row (usually my wife to hit the button) as I am usually in the back row.

Wifi eats battery time.

How long are you doing remote shooting? Extra batteries are good insurance as well.

I had mine done over two years ago and now I have some debris behind both lens implants. A simple laser procedure to "blast" away the debris are scheduled later this month for the worst eye and next month for the other one. Apparently normal but my mother went 9 years before she needed this "cleaning of debris". Overall I am pleased but I've seen two strange phenomena - flashes of light (rectangular shape pulses - often blue color) after walking by a river where the sun is very reflective on calm surface of the water and I go from dark to light due to the trees shadows on the water. The other weird phenomena happened recently where I see prisms like a kaleidoscope after reading my phone for a while and then switch to watching TV. That was very disconcerting. It went away after a good night's sleep.

I would think you would use your smart phone (if you have one) to do remote control of newer Canon cameras - I know I can do that on the almost ancient compact SX700, long in the tooth super-zoom 60SX, EOS-80D, and now the R5 using built in Wi-Fi and Canon Connect App on my Samsung phone. My old 40D and 7D did not have built in Wi-Fi so I bought CamRanger for them (which I rarely used) - now all 3 are collecting dust.

With all these different connectors in use nowadays, I think I need to start color-coding all my cables, inputs and cable adapters.

I tried to buy different color cables to make it easier but there is such a mishmash of cables out there (prices, colors, sizes). I just ended up making a label for each cable instead.

I think you are referring to the USB 2.0/3.0 interface difference, not connector type. Different animals.
The cable doesn't make it faster, the USB 3.0 interface electronics do that.
The cable connector type A, B, C, ... is simply a physical connector style.
The newer connector types are simply for the device connection, which the device also happens to utilize the faster interface electronics.

Charging with no data transfer just means that the cable only has two wires (power & ground) and no wires for the data+ and data-. It's a two wire cable instead of a four wire cable.
I had one of the two wire cables. I threw it out.

Thank you for saying that.

I got tired of waiting for B&H on two Canon lenses last year (on back order for weeks) so I went straight to Canon and had both lenses (and 2x extender) in a few days. I bought the camera (R5 and 24-105 lens) from B*H a few weeks earlier than the lens order and that took several weeks to finally come in.

The hub ports should be standard type A and then you only need the right cable for the device (type A, B, C, mini, micro, lightning, etc.) I have a 10 port hub with all standard A and then bought shorter, specific cables for each device - hard drives, label makers, DVD writer, phone, memory card reader, etc. The port that connects to the computer should/could be a port so you can buy the appropriate cable there as well - my laptop is Type C but I could have Type A (the hub I bought came with the standard type A cable so I had to buy the type C cable for the hub) for the older laptop/desktops and still use the same hub - just a different cable.

I prefer embedded photos - instant gratification. I don't hate attached photos but what a drag - either save them all for viewing or double click on each one at a time which is a pain in the butt.

I use MS Outlook and simply insert (from the menu item Insert) a photo from This Device, navigate to the folder of the photos, and click each one I want to embed (or attach). Easy-peasy.

I resize all my photos for email and posting on line using FastStone's resizer and I set the dimensions to 8" by 16" (the 16" is for any tall images from camera or copied images from the web because I want all the horizontal resized images to be 8").

My Canon R5 photos may be over 50 MB but for email purposes it reduces to less than 500 KB - a huge savings for embedding (or attaching) many pictures in one email. If a recipient wanted the full glory of a huge file, then I would use Google Drive, Dropbox, or One Drive.

A few weeks ago I posted how I had ordered this computer, in part to celebrate winning a 15 year battle with cancer.

I then decided to move all my LrC images from my old computer into my new computer and reconstruct the LrC data base from scratch! Cooler heads here on LR advised me not to do that. I was convinced that my original LR data base had become corrupted of the years and wanted a fresh start. I have made a lot of progress over the past few weeks but it's a very error prone process! I'm sure that years from now I'll still be correcting, and refining search terms.

The good news is that having EVERYTHING in the SSM makes things happen so fast that the task is possible. I found a few pictures that I had forgotten about. I discovered that I have a ridiculous about of image duplication! That's something I can take care of in the future.

Now for some images:

The picture with the red seeds is Hearts a Bursting (Euonymus americanus) and the blue flower looks like Chicory (Cichorium intybus). The insect is a small hover fly of some sort.

Many years ago I was at a convention in Miami where a PowerPoint presentation was taking a very long time to open. The IT guy at the hotel and the presenter were getting a bit anxious after going through a couple of bootstraps (insanity is doing the same over and expecting different results?) I told them to hold on, let's see what is going on with the file and computer. This was back in 2006 so the computer may have been even older (hotel computer I think). Opening task manager, I saw PowerPoint was loading in the file chunk by chunk. Looking at the file size with Explorer, I saw the file was around 500 MB which may not be huge today but then it was the problem. I learned a lesson that day to compress all the pictures when I build a PowerPoint presentation with pictures, both for sending via email and also speeding up the loading into memory.

The cigarette adapter comes in different amp outputs (get the one for your phone's rating for quicker charging). I bought a triple charger years ago for my old truck and two ports were higher amperage and the third one was a slow charge for the older type phones.

Make sure the adapter is pushed all the way in - no telling how many times I lost power on the phone while plugged in and then to find out that the adapter wasn't all the way in! The worst case was using the phone for GPS guidance in a city and lose power without any alerts that I was dangerously low on power. GRRR!

My new SUV has a dedicated charging port that also puts the phone (maps) on the NAV/Radio screen - very cool! I lose voice control for the Sirius radio though but everything else works - navigate to XYZ, call ABC, etc. I prefer Google maps over the built in NAV system of my SUV anyway.

If a cell phone kills the auto battery then the auto battery was on its last legs to begin with. My wife's Toyota will not charge our phones when the engine or accessories is turned off. Bummer, as I cannot charge my nearly dead phone if we are at a store - found that out after I left my phone in her car for an hour or more.

I wonder how plants got mixed in with religion in the first place seeing how plants have been here millions or at least thousands of years longer than people. Crown of thorns, holy basil, dogwood, peace lily, Easter lily, sacred lotus, sacred fig, Buddha's Belly, etc. to name a few are easy to remember instead of the botanical names but...
