I don't think the Op is asking about a plug in device. Doesn't the D7200 have Wi-Fi built in?

Yes, it does.

The Android app is "WirelessMobileUtility" by Nikon. Here is the link to it on Google Play.

Hope this helps.

I have calibrated all my lenses to my D7200 (except the one I received yesterday!) using FoCal software. There are free ways to do this to be found on the internet, but for me, FoCal seems to be the easiest and is accurate (no subjectivity on my part). For my zooms, I checked what the AF Fine Tune setting should be at the shortest, longest and mid-focal lengths. I set the camera default for the zooms to the mid point, but if I am shooting mostly at the longest focal length for something, I'll adjust the AF fine tune setting for that shoot... I think it does make a difference and for the zooms it is really good info to have, especially if I am shooting wide open with little DOF and really need to nail the focus...

If your budget is constrained, I recommend you look at a 80-200mm f2.8 (get the one with the separate focus/zoom rings). It is an older model, but is an awesome lens! Shop around for the best buy, but Adorama has a used one now for $689... No VR, but not an issue with sports. You'll love this lens!

If the 70-200mm f2.8 is out of your budget, you might look at the 80-200mm f/2.8 AF-D NIKKOR ED. It is older, but still an outstanding lens. It does not have VR, tho, which should not be an issue for sports. Also, as you shop for your lens, keep in mind that the D7200 high ISO performance is pretty good (for a crop sensor) ...at least my opinion. Here is a link to a review of the 80-200mm f2.8

With a 7200, you need the 35mm 1.8 DX.

I have the 35mm f1.8 DX on my D7200. It is an awesome lens and you can't go wrong with it for ~$200.

You will not regret investing in the 35mm 1.8 DX lens for future use. It is a very good and versatile prime lens, and relatively cheap.

Definitely get a 35mm f1.8! ...it is only about $200 and well worth it! I recently bought it to use with my D7200 and have used it much more than I anticipated! I love it! it is super sharp, and I find that for indoor events it is the perfect focal length... I zoom with my feet!. And the 1.8 helps the focus in low light situations. You won't regret this purchase!

I was going to suggest that too.......having the camera on the ground looking up. I visited the website to see your photos........WOW! When I grow up I want to shoot like YOU! Those were excellent photos. With your new ideas you are getting like from Steve shooting from above looking down that would be really cool. Do you have access to a Drone? That would be the ultimate above shots looking down!

Thanks! ...if you were talking about my pics! Our CC season is over... :( and I never had the opportunity to try any shots from a real high vantage point - hopefully next season! I also want to try some from on the ground...

I have used both versions extensively for sports and I would highly recommend the latest version, the VR II over the previous version. The newer version is Nano coated, very beneficial for digital sensors, and the newer version of the VR works much better at least in my opinion. I hardly used the older version of VR but the new version I do use if needed. I am unhappy with the fact that the auto focus stop buttons were removed on the new lens as I used them extensively, but the new Group Focus has fixed that issue for me. As stated by MT Shooter, I also endorse the F4 version for both the cost and weight savings. I plan to obtain one of those, but it will be in addition to the 2.8 version as I agree the additional stop is important for both night sports and poorly lit gyms. Again, I offer this advice as my opinion only as opposed to scientific testing. Best of luck with whatever you choose. Off topic, but you may also want to consider the new 300/4. It is an absolutely fantastic lens!

Thanks, Walt. Did you notice much difference between the performance of the VR in the two lenses?

My girlfriend is Nikon and I got her the 70-200 for soccer for her son with her D7100. The lens is true professional, but also all metal and a bit heavy. A solid piece of equipment. It's perfect sharp at f/2.8 and f/4 with a 1.4 extender. The VR is great too. By way of comparison, the older version of Canon IS are less capable than the VR on this lens.

Thank you for that! Sounds like the older one would do what I need (want)! Thanks again!
