A few days ago their was a discussion about fine writing instruments. I would like to add my Cross Pens in the mix. The first pen (on the left) is a 14K Gold Cross Pen that I have had for 35-40 years. The next set is a 10K Gold Cross Pen and Pencil set that I have had for about 30 years.

I have 3 Pelikans that I bought from an estate sale in the early 1980s which allowed me to hold and inspect each one. Two are the classic Souverain series which features gold nibs and today run about $380; the third was a limited edition with a gold nib and an artistic engraved band on the barrel ( which I have never put ink into; it is my choice simply to appreciate it more as a work of art.) I had the fortune of collecting some pens when they were easy to personally inspect and I chose them on the basis of their feel in my hand, appearance, and my perceived personal utility. What feels good to one individual may not be the case for another. Locally available pen retail largely a thing of the past and the demand for costly writing instruments is no more (unless you are the President or a CEO.) There are a number of online stores for these pens and I suspect they would answer specific questions on return policy, etc., if you decided a pen did not suit you.

The Pelikan web site has a rather good description of the pens - size, nibs etc.

I agree with you about Pelikan pens. I have several in my collection that includes Mont Blanc, Waterman, Shaeffer, Parker, Cross, et.al. For me all are attractive (that led me to purchase in the first place) but in my hand none can match the feel of balance that the Pelikans offer. Waterman feels a bit top heavy and Mont Blanc a bit bottom heavy to my hand. Regardless I find writing with any of them a pleasurable experience.

When I look at Pelikan pens, I see many different ones.. Which is recommended by those who use them. I know the most expensive is not always the best. I am referring to the fountain pen. I like skinny fountain pens too.

I have approximately 40 fountain pens and take turns writing with them. Mont Blanc, Schaeffer, Cross, Waterman, DH,, Parker, etc. Some of the newer brands are worthless and I am crazy for buying and trying them. I end up throwing them away. Just obtained one that is a HERO, apparently Japanese. It is gold tone and had Japanese designs and writing on the base of the pen. As you might guess, I also have many of the mechanical pencils also. I need to look into the different inks. I really enjoyed this post.

Without knowing what operating system you are using on your computer, it should be noted that the latest versions of Photoshop Elements will only have complete functionality if you have Windows 10. Don't know about Mac systems. I am one of the holdouts still using Windows 7 and my latest version of PSE is PSE 10 which continue to serve all my editing needs.

When you do, skip all offers to buy things. Adobe offers add ons that might be fun for some. For basic photo editing, none of those are necessary.

Ok- thanks

The best price for Photoshop Elements comes about twice a year. One is the holiday season coming up in a couple months. It will probably be about $60.

The OP writes, "I do not need to catalog or do any heavy duty editing of photos." Both Windows and Apple computers come with basic photo and video editing software. Adobe gives away a competent, basic program called "Photoshop Express".

I will check out the Photoshop Express.

I read the reviews on the 2021 Elements and I think that I will pas on it. The good reviews were not the best.

PS elements is not subscription software, never was and remains the subscription alternative. Look to see if your prior purchase generates and 'upgrade' purchase / price, rather than paying full retail.

Okay, I will try that. I just assumed it would be subscription since most of them are now.
Thanks to all for your fast response .

What is the best stand al one software? I do not need to catalog or do any heavy duty editing of photos. The Photoshop Elements that I had will no longer work and says it had to be updated. I know what that means- buy a monthly subscription to it. I do not do enough editing for that.

It's terrible to have to pay extra to block calls on the cell. I have Verizon and there is a smallI with a circle beside of each call logged. By pressing that circle, you get a drop down that allows you to block that number.
