I'm pretty happy with how this came out for being a single shot attempt. I shot this with my Canon 5D Mark lll and Canon 24-70 version ll. My settings were ISO 2500...SS 20 seconds and F 2.8 Thank you for looking and for your nice comments.

there are many ways to bring out the red and increase color saturation in post processing. for starters drop highlights slider to left all the way. reduce exposure slider slightly, increase vibrance and saturation. try adjusting color balance warmer toward yellow and increase magenta. The combination of those things should bring out the red and orange tones.. If you need more than you can go into the Hue Sat and Luminance settings and adjust red, orange and yellow to get the colors you actually saw...

Its because the sun is over-exposed. The exposure in this scene is set for the clouds.

Thank you MT Shooter. How do I change settings to fix this? Exposure compensation ?

I took this photo this morning and I'm not unhappy with it overall. However the sun was actually a deep red color but I didn't pick that up in the photo. I shot at 1/ 8000 F 7.1 and auto ISO in shutter priority mode. I also was in auto white balance and wondering if that is the problem. There is some contrast and sharpening in post along with some minor exposure changes. Thank you so much for your feedback !

Two different photos, the eyes are different in download/enlargement, slightly moved on branch and the head is slightly repositioned. The expression is more intense. The first photo is the one I would choose to crop. Both are great Captures. TFS Cliff

I took several photos within a short time. They may not be perfectly identical but my main point is a cropped vs a non cropped photo of the same subject. They are close enough to make that type of determination.I prefer the uncropped . Still appreciate your observation and feedback.

I came across this hawk at first light perched in a dead tree with it's back facing the dark woods. I have it in both cropped and uncropped versions. I really prefer the uncropped photo and would like to get some other's opinions. Thank you for looking and for your feedback !

You are lucky to capture this. Awesome. I'd increase your exposure a little but other than that, it's perfect.

Thank you . It was near sunset and overcast. I was lucky to get the photo at all !

Wood ducks will often lay eggs in the nest of another dominant hen in their flock. Esp older hens or very young ones who lay small numbers (average wood duck clutch is 10-12). She will then hatch and raise them as one brood. 20 or more is fairly common
