Thanks for the image. I'm still working on applications for my 8mm lens too.

Jerry, for whom could it better serve than you?

We've been fortunate in traveling. We've visited several countries, also traveled some here in the US. I always had my camera tethered to my hand. So I have many many discs of wonderful images, and then end up in the digital picture frames. And for that reason, I always have one of them on constantly. Every time I walk past it, it reminds me of that visit, or that specific image. So who better deserves to see it than you, me, us?

They are not cheap Jerry, I totally agree with you. I have three of these, and two are on 24/7. I like them a lot, but can't say they are cheap.

You should try to use it. I love mine, and I didn't spend much time learning how to use it. Now, I can't imagine working on a photo image without it.

Dcearls, from my colleagues where I teach, I've been asked many times to "repair" a print. I'll be glad to work on your two prints. In two weeks, I'll have some spare time.

For a different reason, I stopped using Photoshop. Now keep in mind that I will not argue the fact that it is an excellent editing program. I first -purchased- my copy back in 2005 (I think) and paid a strong price. It was worth it. Then I purchased upgrades every other edition, usually about $150 per upgrade. Again worth it. When CS series began, I continued to purchase upgrades right up to PhotoshopCS5. As I was prepared to purchased the upgrade for CS7, I learned that it was replaced by Adobe's rental plan. Now, I won't criticize that decision. At both a computer store and a camera shop, I was so frequently angered by those who were bragging how they got their Photoshop by copying someone's program. In short, they were stealing the program. So I'm very sympathetic with Adobe for renting out the program.

Now that's my history and I still support Adobe for renting out the program. Have I done so? Absolutely not. Overall, I paid more than $1,000 in all the upgrades. What did I do? Did my homework, and found Affinity Photo. I find it to be a thorough program and very friendly. Oh, you purchase it for less than $100, and I've received upgrades that are free. I'm currently studying the program, just as I did with Photoshop. I thoroughly enjoy Affinity Photo, and highly recommend it.

Fair question: I asked such things as *Does the camera have "self cleaning" when you turn it on and off? *Is the back lcd screen scratched? *Does the camera have a Preview Button? [up front, lightly below the lens]. *What is the highest ISO number can I dial?

If he/she could not answer these four questions, then I cut off all contact.

I'm so "loyal" to my Canon 5DII that I want to be sure I'll be using "it" for many years to come. And by "it", I mean even a second Canon 5DII body. So, off to Craig's List I went. I had to be patient, but within a week or so, I found someone wanting to sell a 5DII body. The price was fair, so we picked a local restaurant to meet. We went during a "slow" time (mid-day) and sat at a front window. So, along with our soda orders, I used his camera body and my lenses. I took many shots outside the window and looked at the image. I was happy with it, and bought it.

Oh, I did it a second time. Used Craig's List, met at a restaurant, and I now have two "back up" 5DII bodies.

By the way, I wanted to be sure I was meeting a real person, and a good one. So before we met, I asked several dumb questions, ones I already knew the answers to. If he/she could not answer it well, then scratch that 'seller'. I'll do that to anyone I plan to purchase what they are selling.

I'm glad Time Machine backs up every hour, on the hour, and backs up anything that is new.

Since I teach, I also take a small 2TB hard drive with me that has all the Powerpoint Image Files that I use. All of this is really easy to do, and so helpful.

BTW, when we took a vacation last summer, our 'house sitter' used my computer and did some things I could not even understand. Bottom line, it no longer worked properly. Off to Microcenter and they reformatted my hard drive. Yes everything was lost. BUT, all I had to do was connect my TimeMachine external hard drive to the iMac, and let it run. It took several hours, but absolutely everything was returned to my computer. Nice.

I'm glad you are bringing this topic up. We all have much more control over how long each of us will live. I had a father who didn't believe in doctors. Hence, an avoidable colon cancer took his life. That was not necessary, but a bad choice in his case.

If we all investigate what is going on in our bodies, go to AND listen to our doctors, we are helping our bodies to live the length the body is capable of. I lost my two older brothers due to avoidable medical conditions.

In those rare occasions when someone might ask my age, I tell them the age of my birth certificate. I then add that my brain doesn't relate to that number, however. So mental state is important too.

The bottom line, we do have much more control of our life span, and the quality of that life. One hundred twenty years? Only time will tell.
