A field near where I live has thousands on thousands of small pumpkins. I took this photo just a couple of hours ago. It is well past Halloween and the pumpkins are mostly the size of a large cantaloupe, not jack-o-lantern size. I am thinking these might be pumpkins for making pies and if so when will they harvest them? Could it just be a way of enriching the soil and perhaps they will be plowed under for that purpose? What you see in this photo is maybe 1/10 to 1/12 of the field!

Thanks

I'm in Central Illinois and just west of us is Morton, IL; "Pumpkin Capital of the World". A canning plant owned by Nestle is there and they provide 82% of what you see in the stores. You can see pumpkins in fields all over. Most are the large ones, but some small for ornamental display. Apparently, the soil is perfect for pumpkins.

I guess I am a fossil when it comes to extreme PP. All my photos go into Picasa for basic corrections. Guess I'm too cheap to buy something like Photo Shop...or maybe too lazy to learn PS.
I take many videos too; with my drones. No processing at all with them. I know..I can hear your comments! :)

Making money is the minor part. According to the FAA, if you operate a drone for anything other than selfish recreation, you need the 107 certificate. Even if you are only operating a drone for fun, like a model airplane, you still need a certificate that the FAA calls "TRUST".

In other words, the FAA says you need one of their two certificates to operate a drone. No exceptions.

But, there is a problem. The FAA is failing to reach their target! Based on sales numbers and other estimates, the FAA is getting compliance from about 15% of the USA citizens that own or are buying drones. The other 85% either don't know, don't care or are not interested.

I know many who fly drones. I have two. Most drone pilots I know just don't care. That will change when the FAA finally puts into law the RID. Coming 1 Jan 2023; Remote Identification Law. Each drone weighing over 250 grams must have the RID in/on their drone. It transmits important data to aircraft flying in the area; altitude, airspeed, direction, and the location of the drone pilot to anyone on the ground with an app on their cellphone. So...here comes the confrontations!!!!

My brother Ken and I drove out to Toledo Bend Lake on the border of Texas and Louisiana the other day to test fly his drone, had great day , here's a few shots of the day !!

I know you had fun. I have the Mavic Pro and Phantom 4 Pro. I grin like a kid each time I fly. The Mavic has a 12 mpeg camera for photos and up to 4k video, and the Phantom has a 1 inch sensor with a mechanical shutter that takes 20 mpeg photos and up to 4k video. Most photos are taken from 3' up to 6'. Nothing like the same scene from 50', or 300'. It's a whole new world up there!

Some...but most 4k is streaming. YouTube has a lot of 4k. But....you have to select 4k. Most open in 720p.
The difference is beyond stunning.

You’ll probably get a lot of bouncing on the videos if the car is movind. Those things have no suspension to speak of, but I’d be very interested in seeing stills or video from it!

I have a GoPro and a DJI Action Cam. Both video up to 4K and have stabilization, and the video will be rock solid.

I don't know what car, or what state, but those dollar figures aren't even close to either of my vehicles would have. More like what my motorcycle would show.

Pretty exciting movie. I am a retired Naval Aviator, so Top Gun is special: not realistic, but special for entertainment!
Really enjoyed the flying. If he was a real Navy pilot, he would have his Wings taken and been court martialed. :)

Had an experience I thought might be of interest to UHH travelers who leave their vehicles in airport parking lots. We leave our van at the “Parking Spot” at MCI -Missouri Continental Airport). Also known as KCI (Kansas City International). This time we left our van for 9 days. Upon our return, as we left the sheltered parking lot, the warning light for service activated. Due to some skilled driving by my wife, we were able to get the Toyota to a dealership without having to call AAA or having an accident. Upon inspection, the mechanics discovered a partial rat’s nest constructed largely of fuel line electric wires. Needless, to say the repair will be costly. Should run at least $430 but no one was injured by auto failure. Lesson learned: Next time we leave a vehicle parked for several days in an area near-native habitat, I will have a kill rat trap, baited under the hood. And yes, I plan to report the damages to officials at the “Parking Spot”.

I read the reason they chew the wires is that those wire casings are soybean based. A friend had the same problem here and State Farm paid for the repair...however, the next week, same thing happened and 'The Farm' said they would not pay again.

I'll have to look into YouTube. I can't bundle since I already bundle home phone and internet with Xfinity. Don't want to change that. Thanks for the info!

Would love to 'cut the cable', but I would loose all local channels. Too many trees around for antennae. Internet/streaming will not give me what we normally watch. So stuck with the Ft Knox bill each month.

This will get you going.....I got my shots and booster only because my wife has asthma. I am healthy. Had a small accident so had an MRI. So no underlying conditions (knock on wood). Haven't had a cold in maybe 15 years. 77 yrs old and take zero pills. I retired from Johnson&Johnson and spent many hours in surgery as a medical rep. I read what was printed on the face mask box. Will not protect against a virus. Also, why is it we must wear a mask when entering a restaurant and when we are seated, we can take it off? Covid only good above 4 ft??
I don't drink the Kool-Aid.

I have DISH for regular TV watching. Gives me locals too; which is important for news.
Also have Xfinity for home phone and Internet. Xfinity also has TV channels; many are also on DISH. I pay for Amazon Prime, Disney+, and others I don't have to pay for. DISH and Direct TV know what people want to watch, so they put those shows in the premium package, even though we don't watch most of those 200 plus channels.
Thought about cutting the cable, but even with antennae; which I really don't want, I cannot get local channels.
So stuck with what we have! Just waiting to win the Lotto to pay for them...wait, I don't buy Lotto tickets.....
