Thanks everyone for your help. Will find online manual for specs. Had not thought of looking there.

I ordered the Canon ef 100 f2.8 macro lens to pair with my Canon t5i camera. I would like to get an extension tube to use with the lens and camera but cannot find anything that says they are compatible. I tried Canons website but it doesn't show if you can or can't use them. Has anyone paired these 2 with an extension tube? I also have the Canon t3i that I would like to know same thing on.

Thank you all so much for your help. I have learned a lot from all your advice. I will purchase a true macro as I really do want sharp clear macro shots. The advice to leave it on the camera and practice with it until I learn what its capable of and how to use it is very good advice. AMFOTO1, thank you so much for spelling out the different models and how things work, this is invaluable information.

I have several telephoto lenses but no prime/fixed lenses. I have the Sigma 18-250mm lens and want to know if using it set at 60mm for macro will I get same or close to results as a fixed 100 macro lens. Using on a Canon T5I crop sensor camera. using 60 @ 1.6 crop factor I get 96mm, Looking at close up shots of flowers, bees, no people shots.

Second question is how hard is it to learn to use a fixed lens?

Since you had the camera mounted on a tripod did you turn off the Image Stablization on the lens? Tripods don't play well with it.

I have the T3i and the T5i. Love them both. I do not buy "S" lenses for the cameras. I buy the EF lenses as I may decide to go full frame at some point in time and my lenses will not have to be replaced. As others have said, learn your camera and buy quality EF lenses for it. You don't say what type of photography interests you. That can play a big part in the lenses you buy. New camera bodies are not always the answer but quality glass is important. The biggest problems do not lay with the gear but with the photographer. Your off to a good start with UHH. The help and advice you will get here is invaluable.

Merry Christmas and Happy Shooting,

Beautiful shots. I have the Tokina 11-16 lens also. I use it in my Canon T5i camera. I live in Las Vegas so no dark skies for me. What were your settings for these 2 shots?

I have the entire Topaz Collection and love it. I don't know anything about Photomatix. So can't help you there. I do have the NIK Collection (its free now) and I use it as well. But my go to filters are almost always my Topaz ones. I also use Photoshop CC and the Topaz and NIK filters work very well with it.

Thanks Greg for looking and your kind comments. It was a fun trip even though I didn't have a lot of time for taking photos.

I just returned from the Train Trip and it was fun way to get to the South Rim of the Canyon from Williams, AZ. Here are the best photos I got as promised in earlier post requesting info on how to shoot it.
