These were taken from our trip to Vancouver, BC. The waterfall is Shannon falls, at 1,099 ft. We took a monorail up to the top of the Mount Habrich (1.328 ft) There was a suspension bridge to take you from one peak to another. I's a little difficult to photograph on a moving walkway. Of course, by the time we we finished the morning haze had burnt off and we were able to get some clearer shots....then 15 minutes later, on the way down, it rained! The only thing missing was snow. Thanks for looking

Looks like fun, except for the bridge!

J. C. Raulston was a famous horticulturist at the NC State University in Raleigh. The arboretum that he created over many years is one of the excellent natural resources that we have locally.

Other than the sunflower, all nonwhites are hibiscus(es), and the white flowers are lilies.

All photos have been taken with a telephoto lens (I don't own a decent macro), since I also wanted to capture butterflies (separate post).

Nikon D500, 300mm f/4 + 1.4x TC.

Comments and critiques welcome.

I have had Brooks Falls on my bucket list for many years. I do more landscape photography than wildlife but I am learning. Brooks Falls is a unique place in the world, close proximity to the bears while standing up on overhead platforms. Getting to the platforms is via a 1 mile trail and several times we encountered close bears coming along the trail. Fortunately they are getting all the food they want during the salmon runs and don't take any interest in people. Of course we were not allowed to have so much as a stick of Chapstick in our pockets or packs.

The experience was even more amazing than I had imaged it would be!

Many people had the huge lenses but my biggest lens is a Nikon 300mm PF and often I used the 70-200 lens. No tripods are allowed on the main platforms but elbows on the railing worked good for me.

My last good night for deep sky imaging was in November 2020, yes almost two years ago; nothing but cloud, smoke and haze since...

In the interim I've sold off three of my EQ mounts, a few telescopes and have my observatory up for sale; however, I haven't totally given up on astro-imaging and have been practicing on the sun, moon and planets (as you might have noticed on UHH?). I also just purchased a lighter weight iOptron CEM26 (EQ) mount, so there may be hope yet!?

I've been getting up to speed on the new mount and, with a reasonably clear sky last night, decided to shoot some subs of the Milky Way with a Sony A7R III and Canon 24-105L lens off the new mount; all subs at 105mm, f/4, 30sec., ISO6400.

The first image is a horizontal panorama of three images across the Milky Way from Altair on the left; 3x10x30sec stacks.

The second image is centered on Deneb. Sadr is to the lower left. The North America and Pelican nebulas are top center. Numerous other nebulas in lower left region. 10x30sec. stack.

When I shoot the Milky Way my mind simply shuts down when I consider the number of stars I'm seeing; mind boggling! And dust lanes everywhere!

Enjoy!

This morning's light was unusually dark. I thought that this would be a good time to try flash. I like shooting hummers after a rain because the birds are usually clean.

Set the flash to Multi and played with the times and frequency to keep up with the camera's frame rate (30fps) and get an exposure that was close to correct. I shot multiple locations (distances), so the light changed a little, following the bird without changing the settings. Tweaked the results in post.

Never tried this before, an experiment, worked to my satisfaction. I particularly like the flower shot.

And thanks to the bird for not making me wait long.

This is the eye of an inactive locust I found in my yard this morning. It still had dewdrops which appear to magnify the tiny eyelets. A few hours later when it warmed up it flew off.

A clear sky this afternoon, so loaded up a Lunt 60 Solar scope (double stacked), 2.5x PowerMate and a mono Pt. Grey Chameleon camera. I shot six sessions of 2000 frames of video each, two exposed for the prominences and four for the Sun's surface.

I then extracted the best frame of video from each session and used PhotoShop to create the composites and images shown below.

The large prominence I imaged yesterday (https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-749918-1.html) is still going strong and another one is building on the other side of ol' Sol.

Late last night I wandered through the neighborhood taking astroscape photos.

I got some interesting results.

I kicked the tripod during the exposure on one of them when a car went by, it's harder to notice among the stars, but the trees really show the effect.

One guy has a light strobing, perhaps not intentionally, but it affected one picture.

Fun stuff, I too was last night trying some tracked MilkyWay ,more just playing cause of clouds.
