You need to look at the links, the 2 new lenses are DX format

I have a Sigma 70-300 zoom with no VR and am looking to get this Nikkor lens. Does anyone out there have it and can recommend it? I have the Nikkor 80-400 for bird and wildlife photography but have found the 70-300 to be the go to one for all else. Thanks in advance for any help. Barb

Barb = Are you aware that Nikon announced 2 new versions of the 70-300mm VR lens? See it here: http://www.nikonusa.com/en/nikon-products/product/camera-lenses/af-p-dx-nikkor-70-300mm-f%252f4.5-6.3g-ed-vr.html and a non-VR version also: http://www.nikonusa.com/en/nikon-products/product/camera-lenses/af-p-dx-nikkor-70-300mm-f%252f4.5-6.3g-ed.html

The VR version MSRP is $400 and the non-VR is $350 -- They are both DX lenses.

Like Tramsey said Fox Squirrel, The first time I saw these was at the Okefenokee Swamp in Folkston, Georgia, at first from a distance because of it's size I thought it was a cat, but when I saw it walk/hop I knew it wasn't. Nice shots.

Why not buy a cheap ethernet card for $10 and give that a whirl, it might let you know if your motherboard is okay, do you have much lightning up that way this time of year?

I would call Canon and ask if they would look at the lens for no charge since they have already fixed the problem recently, if they do you get to recoup some of your money, if not nothing lost.

Without knowing anything about it, I personally would NOT put ANY of those companies even in the same paragraph as ANY L glass!!!
Not to mention it's a pretty slow variable aperture lens!
Plus the 7:1 ratio is NOT the stuff of hallmark lenses!

It appears from looking around that the lens was made by a third party company and sold to other lens companies such as Soligor, Quantaray, Vivitar, Access, Promaster, etc. You can find the Soligor and a few other versions on eBay for around $30. Some listings say that it was made in the 70's and was thought to be of the quality Canon 'L' glass is considered to be today. It came in weird lens mounts Pentax, Minolta, Yashica, Konica. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2054436.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.TRS5&_nkw=35-200mm+3.8-5.3+macro+lens&_sacat=0

Mike - I just picked up this tripod: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dolica-CX700B505-D-S-70-Carbon-Fiber-Tripod-Traveler-edition-/331980231909?hash=item4d4b9054e5:g:54oAAOSwuTxWAbQd It says refurbished but mine looks like it is brand new. $170(Normally $300) Dolica CX700B505, it will extend to 72'' one of the legs can be attached to the center extension for use as a monopod, it has a decent ball head with arca swiss type plate. It has the spikes for the feet and the legs extend with twist locks and not those flip locks. It will hold 20 pounds. It really is built very well. Legs have 3 adjustable positions and allows the tripod to be positioned about 6-7 inches off the ground, the center column can be installed upside-down for macro and it has a spring loaded hook for a bag of rocks (for stability). The Dolica website sucks but their customer support is amazing I've used it. They have a video of the tripod on youtube; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OxrXKVboteM. The spider and the ballhead are cnc milled so it is really nicely made. Let me know if you are interested in more info and I'll get back to you. It also comes with a carrying case. Overall I'm very very happy with this tripod. 5 year warranty

I just bought a like new D300 2 months ago in a private sale with a shutter count of 1255 and paid $325. It came with all of the accessories new strap, user guides, charger, etc. plus 3 extra batteries, an additional charger, 3 - 8GB SanDisk Extreme Pro Compact Flash Cards, and a nice Tamrac System/8 shoulder bag. I think I got a real good deal. I don't think you will have any trouble selling that camera. I was looking at ebay at the time and the D300's were all going for $300-$375 and the nicer packages all had quite a few buyers watching. I'd keep all of the lenses and see how you like them on the new D7200, get rid of the ones that don't perform as well as they did on the D300 don't forget you have a sensor that has twice the resolution as the D300 has. (24.2mp vs 12.3mp). You'll love the D7200.

It's not often that you run across a murder scene, and catching the perp at the scene of the crime. I think the case will hold up in court.

It may not have been that terrible of an idea if he had stopped after the 3rd or 4th blast of that stuff. Talk about freezing your butt off.
