I'm no expert! but according to Bronx zoo info it may be a Gulf Fritillary apparently south USA inhabitant...

Very pretty any way!

Definitely not a Gulf Fritillary. Possibly a Mormon Fritillary.

It looks exactly like a Nazca Booby to me!

It does look like a Nazca Booby, which at one time was a subspecies of the Masked Booby. I just can't figure out why a Nazca Booby would be in Florida.

It's not a Northern Gannet. Gannets have bluish gray bills, not orange. Gannets don't have this much black on the face, and Gannets also have a long pointed black gape line, which this bird doesn't have.

Not a gannet or a boobie. The boobie is only all the way down past the Keys here in Florida. It is a Snowy Egret.......here is a page from my waterfowl of Florida book, and one of my images of one in it's breeding plumage.

It is definitely a Masked Booby. Even though Snowy Egrets are far more common than Masked Boobies, Snowies have black bills. Masked Boobies are occasionally seen on both coasts of Florida. It's most likely to see them on the Dry Tortugas where they nest.

Eastern Tiger Swallowtail, male.

It's a Tiger Swallowtail. Because of the amount of blue, I would say it's a female. It looks like there is a spot of orange on the margin, so it would either be an Eastern Tiger Swallowtail or a Canadian Tiger Swallowtail. Location would help in its ID.

BooSesb... and others on this Thread...

There is no such thing as an 'Advantage with .. the reach of a crop ' sensor...

Just because you have a 'Cropped Sensor' ... there is 'NO Truism that this give you an advantage...' I would like to point out that, with a 'Cropped Sensor' you are actually 'Shooting yourself in the foot...' With a Cropped Sensor' you are shooting with the same lens, which has the same lens 'Angle of View' and you are shooting at the same distance from camera to the subject... In reality, what the camera owner is doing is that you are getting the same 'size image' BUT, you are 'Cutting away the avalible canvas because you have a sensor which is some 40% smaller...

It is most definitely an immature Red-shouldered Hawk. Red-shouldered Hawks are the most common hawk by far in that area. Nice pic !!!
BTW, not all Red-tailed Hawks have red tails. The juvenile and Harlan's Red-tailed Hawks don't.

This bird has been around for years causing much confusion. The plumage hasn't changed. It isn't a Little Blue Heron. Final conclusion by most is that it's a hybrid.
