You are perhaps a bit too naïve and accepting of a superficial explanation. Anyone who has tried to but ammunition for the past two-plus years- almost all calibers for rifle, pistol and shotgun, have found empty shelves for the most part, and extremely limited quotas for what little is available. This is due in no small part to the efforts by the anti-gun movement, supported by the Obama administration. Ammo manufacturers have been hog-tied with supposed "environmental" regulations that all but shut them down. Still other restrictions and prohibitions further restrict ammunition availability. Some manufacturers have attempted to relocate to other states (e.g., Texas) that invite them with open arms to set up production facilities, only to have the door slammed shut by the feds. This is a carefully orchestrated effort that is proving most successful. The curious should certainly be asking themselves why. There simply is no way to justify the humongous amounts of ammo being purchased by DHS. The explanation that hollow-point ammo is required for target practice is beyond ludicrous-- much less the amount.
So go on and believe what you will, and keep drinking the government propaganda cool aid-- you may well need it.

Indiana's response is typical of those defending Obama-- ACA and otherwise: ignore the facts and attack the messenger. No argument that healthcare in the US is in need of improvement, but bankrupting the nation is not the solution. The point of this particular posting has to do with Draconian measures imposed on small business owners that, to say the very least, are highly questionable and unconstitutional. Republicans have proposed sensible alternatives, but have been totally ignored by Democrats and then lambasted for not supporting the Prez and the ACA. In another perspective, what good does it do to force a business out of business by such extreme restrictions, and thereby adversely impact an already struggling economy- much less add to the unemployment roles? Does anyone else see the irony and idiocy in this approach?

Noted. (Translation: you're wasting my time. You and your compadres typically badmouth all inputs from my "side," as you so eloquently put it, so why bother.)Closed.

For Frank T: Re Hillary-- Santana perhaps said it best: Those who fail to learn from history are condemned to repeat it. Even a well made condom will finally burst if and when enough shit is pumped into it.

Perhaps Conch would be well advised to take his pile of the same old bull and re-insert it where it originally came from-- better there than from his mouth. PS- be glad lend him a shovel-- he'll need it.

Technical historical correction: Hitler holed up and committed suicide in his Berlin bunker, not the mountain top Eagles Nest in Berchtesgaden. My bad.

The first TV in our neighborhood showed up in 1949, but television goes back to at least 1937, when it was demonstrated at the World's Fair. It was operational as a laboratory development well before that. But its first significant commercial application could be argued to have come about circa 1950.

Devastated? How about doubling the national debt, or driving unemployment to depression era levels (and don't counter that unemployment is "down;" people have just given up and quit trying to find work- however low paying. Meanwhile, Obamacare continues to wreak havoc, our military is down to a small fraction of its former strength- both in terms of numbers and condition of hardware- during a time of growing international turmoil, and our reputation among our allies is at an all-time low, and continues to plummet. Is our vaunted leader concerned? Not from outward appearances, with his repeated multi-million dollar vacations, a continuing string of scandals that he disavows and poo-poohs, and no real solutions evident to address any of these concerns. According to his state of the union speech, all is well and progressing nicely in fantasyland-- shades of Hitler trying to convince himself he was winning the war while hunkered down in his Eagles Nest bunker in April, 1945. Its no wonder that other Democrats are trying desperately to distance themselves from him. Devastated actually describes the situation very well. The key question is whether the nation can survive another three years of his narcissistic, sycophant, and blissfully ignorant idiocy.

I understand full well our original intentions, however mis-guided they have been. We need to be level-headed and clear-eyed in deciding our next move, and certainly recognize when its time to cut our losses. Afghanistan is a lost cause. Nation building failed- once again- in a country that is not really a nation, per se, in that the people themselves don't identify as a united people, but rather as an odd assortment of fierce warring tribes divided ethnically with shifting loyalties accustomed to living under a corrupt, feudal quasi-religious hodge-podge of ignorant, self-serving, ruthless, and corrupt extremists. The modernization (schools, roads, power plants, water treatment facilities, training, financial, medical, and food aid, etc.) are all but lost, as the country is already in the process of reverting back to its historically proven deviate cultural ways. Afghanistan has demonstrated that it is simply not prepared or even interested in moving forward toward any form of modern enlightenment, and there is really nothing we can do about it.

Twelve years, countless billions of dollars, God only knows how many fatalities and casualties- both US and allied- expended military hardware and supplies, etc., etc., and this is what we have to show for it? Meanwhile, Karzai continues to bad-mouth the US-- the very hand that feeds him and protects his worthless corrupt ass. We need to get out now, let the Taliban and Al Quaeda take over, then let the Middle East Arabs work the problem and just sit back and watch the fun.
