We US cits have so much to thank the Canadians for. Remember the Tehran Embassy takeover during "President" Jimmy C's watch. The Canadian govt helped to get 6 of the 52 embassy employees out at great risk to the Canadian embassy personnel. That wasn't many but it was through our northern neighbors that there were 6 less American embassy employees for the "Khomeini boys" to pick on, torture, etc.

I'm very happy that similar international incident of that magnitude hasn't happened under our incumbent's watch -- YET !!!

At home we use Cafe de Monde from NO, LA. Sorry, Beignets not included.
Outside, I love Dunkin Donuts and McD's coffees. But I'm good with any French Roast, as long as it's not diluted to the strength of a mud puddle.

No. I always paid a nominal fee for alterations to my suits.

However, I'm w/you now. No suits, no white shirts nor those things you wrap around your neck after puting on your white shirt.

Update: A recent study looking at 30 years of homicide data in all 50 states found that for every one percent increase in a state's gun ownership rate, there is a nearly one percent increase in its firearm homicide rate"

Check your facts. DC followed by MD -- BOTH have very stringent gun ownership laws -- have a greater rate than gun-related violence than VA -- right across from both of those.

Verizon has a no contract program now. We just upgraded to the Galaxy 5 yesterday on the new no contract program. All we paid was the sales tax on the new phones and our bill dropped $5.00/mo. Verizon has by far the best coverage.
We did all this at the Costco kiosk.

I agree. IMHO, Verizon Wireless is still the best one out there. I also researched changing carriers. It appears that the major Third Party carriers are linked through AT & T Wireless. From what I was seeing, there were more dropped calls and issues on the AT & T network and support was not as good as Verizon. I decided to keep my Verizon. The truth of the matter is "you have to pay for what you get".

She said I was wasting my money when I stocked up 10 years ago. Problem now is that the use of the cheap Eastern Bloc steel nosed ammo is banned -- even at the NRA Range, which says that the ammo messes up the bullet trap wall behind the targets.

Interesting article. It would definitely be nice if DC does allow concealed or even open carry. But if CCW or open is ever granted, it would be even nicer if DC does recipricate with other states like Virginia.

At the moment, it appears that DC still favors "Mexican carry" by some of its denisons. I'm trying to be as PC as I can be. In the past those denisons were concentrated primarily in SE DC, but they are now beginning to exercise their presence in NW Washington, once the safest area of DC.

It was only a few days ago that a group of those denisons crashed a party in NW DC with theiir Mexican carried guns and robbed the invited guests of everything from watches to Apples.

Still DC residents are required to register their firearms with DC's finest and are then required to diassemble those firearms and put the pieces in a locked container separate from any ammo. DC residents are also not allowed to take their firearms out of their houses -- not even in their own yards.

BTW -- If you are from one of the states that have CCW or open carry, DON't EVEN think of crossing over to IH-94 through the DC city limits. If you are stopped and the stopper discovers that you are carrying, you will be very late in arriving to you intended destination. Take the secenic route around DC.

So, back to my original comment. It would be nice if DC residents were alloowed to CCW or open carry, but it's a long shot with the incumbent, his Senate, and the DC Police Chief. DC is also a VERY BLUE voting block.

This was sent to me from a good friend who is retired US Army. I didn't retire but I spent 8 years in the Army.

BEGIN QUOTE
I hope anyone who has military background, or is an American, will forward this.
If you are not a veteran send this to those that you know who are, or to those who may know veterans.

(The 2014 United States elections will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2014. During this midterm election year, all 435 seats in the United States House of Representatives and 33 of the 100 seats in the United States Senate will be contested in this election. Get out and VOTE!!)

A movement has been started by our armed forces to get out the vote in 2014. They are organizing themselves, but this can be done by all of us. The President, the Golfer in Chief, has made the Rules of Engagement (ROE) so difficult, that our troops are often killed before they can even get permission to fight. Nothing has been done to stop our troops from being murdered by the Afghanis they are training, either.

Now, the President wants the US to sign on to the UNs International Criminal Court (ICC), which would allow the UN's ICC to arrest and try US troops for War Crimes, without the legal protections guaranteed under US Law, and from which there is no appeal.

The President, with his Democratic control of the Senate, has nearly all the power. If the Non-Establishment Republicans, and Conservatives, can take back the Senate in 2014, our troops can once again be protected from unnecessary danger. Please consider this, and send it on to your mailing lists.

Thank You.

Interestingly enough, when GWB was president you heard about the military deaths in Iraq and Afghanistan almost daily. With Obama in the White House, the mainstream media has been strangely quiet. --- More than 1,000 American soldiers have lost their lives in Afghanistan in the last 27 months. This is more than the combined total of the nine years before. Thirty have died in August. During the last month, over 50 additional NATO and US servicemen have been murdered, inside jobs by those who are hired to be a force for good in Afghanistan ..
A reinforced Marine battalion is +/- 1000 men.
The commander in chief is AWOL. Not a peep, although he ordered the White House flag flown at half-staff for the Sikhs that were killed. There is a deep disgust, a fury, growing in the ranks of the military against the indifferent incompetence of this president.

It has taken on a dangerous tone. No one knows what to do about him, but the anger runs deep as the deaths continue with no strategic end in sight to the idiocy of this war. Obama has had 4 years to end this futile insanity, during which time he has vacationed, golfed, campaigned, and generally ignored the plight of our men and women in uniform. But, there is now a movement afoot in the armed services to launch a massive get out the vote drive against this president.

Not just current active duty types, but the National Guard, Reserves, the retired, and all other prior service members. This is no small special interest group, but many millions of veterans who can have an enormous impact on the outcome of the November election if they all respond.

The one million military retirees in Florida alone could mean an overwhelming victory in that state if they all show up at the polls. It might not keep another one hundred U.S. troops from dying between now and November, but a turn out to vote by the military against this heart breaking lack of leadership can make a powerful statement that hastens a change to the indifference of this shallow little man who just lets our soldiers die.

Veterans: Please forward to your lists. High Priority!

In God We Trust.

The police have become too militarized! Why is it when protecting our borders we don't use our military? Or if they are called up to aid, they are used as a secondary force. They claim they are trained to shoot to kill and don't know the law of the land.

The Posse Comitatus Act (law) prevents the use of fed use of military w/i the US to enforce local laws.

However, the Gov of any state can request and deploy his National Guard w/i his state. This has been done hundreds of times to assist with national or man-made disasters (hurricane after-effects mitigation, riots)

Govs from AZ and TX have used their National Guard on our southern borders, but only in support capacities like intel analysis or at observation posts overlooking the border. I don't know if the NG was armed and actually had any ammo.

Only CBP agents were used to go out, find and detain illegal border crossers.

My comment about NG arms and ammo is intentional. I remember after 9/11 when airports were finally reopened and airlines were able to go back into the friendly skies, NG elements were patrolling the Washington National Airport. They looked very strac in their uniforms and M-16s. Only one thing made me say WTF ??? The NG were walking through the airport w/o magazines in their rifles !!!! I didn't see any mags being carried in pockets or anywhere else either !!!

Assuming that the NG had their mags -- which I don't think they did -- if there was a terrorist attack in the terminal, the terrs would already be locked and loaded while our NG would have had to load their mags into their rifle and charged the suckers up. Who would have been the winners in that scenario ?
