If God the Father is God and Jesus is God and the Holy Ghost is God, they are all the same God, the Holy Trinity. Why isn't the Jewish belief in the God of Israel enough? They are all the same God are they not or are there three Gods but Jesus is the one you have to pick to be saved?
Bangee did a fine job of answering your questions, but I'd like to add some thoughts.
God the Father, Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit are three individual beings that are in absolute agreement in all things; therefore, they are "one."
When Jesus was on earth, he referred to God as his Father.
The Jews will eventually get what they wanted, which was an earthly ruler. Jesus will reign as ruler (government) during the Millenium.
After the 1,000 year reign of Christ when he has put all enemies under his feet, the last enemy being death, he returns all to the Father.
Then Jesus subjects Himself to the Father. (see 1 Cor. 15:28)
The Holy Spirit does the convicting or drawing people to Jesus and indwells believers to lead, guide them into all truth and the individual things that God has for each as an individual member of God's family.
God is the supreme being, but no one gets to God without going through Jesus, who is the one who shed his blood for our sins to reconcile us back to God. Give us back that which Adam and Eve lost through sin.
Jhn 14:6
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
So even though God is supreme, we need all three persons of the trinity.
Hope this helps some.
