It is so difficult to find a sunpak pro 523px tripod release plate!!! I think that tripod is not worth very much. If you can't replace a part as simple as a release plate -- your tripod isn't worth anything --- sorry, that tells most of the story. I did a search on line for you and came up with nothing to help, and if you want to take a chance of ordering something that does not fit ---- forget about it.

Just one thing that bugs me -- is the use of "a" and "an." I see so many people use these incorectly - and I don't understand why--- Does anybody else out there notice?

OK I'm going to give this lens a second chance. Even though AF is part of the name this lens does NOT have auto focus.

Can you use the lense to focus manually? If yes, then the lense is still good for that purpose (manual photos). I bought that same lense for my Canoon T1i from Japan but the focus ring was stuck and I was going to send it back but the seller told me to keep it as he was satisfied that I had paid for the shipping. I fooled around with this lense for about a week and then I noticed that the focus ring did move a little so I continued to exercise it back and forth applying a little more torque pressure then the ring gave way and today it functions as it should (focus ring working with little resistance).

I have a Nikon AF NIKKOR 28 -105mm 3.5 - 4.5D, that is too old for repair. Are there any uses for these. I feel like I can't just throw it out?

What does the lens not do? What is wrong with it? Then we will know how to advise you besides the "being too old" analysis.

I would pack his ass with as many kicks as I could throw! I don't think that he would pull this stunt again.

It has lost its bumper (oh-- how I miss bumpers) and you can see what remains of the running boards before it was phased out completely. Now you can easily be involved in a bump at 10 mph and suffer thousands of dollars damage when a good bumper would result in no damage at all! That is crazy.

Nice photos of the corn fields and closeups of the ears...looks like good corn to me! I think from what I see it will be a great harvest. There is nothing wrong with this corn being in the cold weather.

The Yongnuo is NOT a macro lens - it is an exact copy of the Canon 100 f2 .....but I am also thinking of getting one ...
.

You are right it isn't a MACRO lens--not sure where I got that idea: I do know that it works with extension tubes to do micro work.

I own the Canon 100/2.8L and not only is it a great macro lens, it's also an excellent portrait lens. It is well built, light weight and fairly small and for a quality L series lens, not too expensive. I'm sure both the Tamron and Sigma are good lenses but if you can afford the better of the three, get it. There's more to the Canon L series lenses than a crimson band.

I bought the Yongnuo 100mm f/2 also a MACRO lens - brand new for $169.69. It has Image Stablization just like the Canon lens, has 8 blades for "astral effect," and gold contacts - came out in 2015. What are your thoughts about this lens - please? I can't pass up a bargain since Canon wanted almost $500 for a similar lens!!

Don’t dismiss cell phones so easily.
For what you describe,

Yes, learn how to use the phone first; maybe you should get a better phone to learn the art of taking photos.
