Caught momma gator with some of her young ones today. We counted five near her but I'm sure there were more. Second picture, lower right, you can see one of the kids.

Great prop! I find quite a few at http://www.shopgoodwill.com/
Just view them as a vendor, not a charity. Watch shipping costs!

I was trying to create a bookmark of a photoshop tutorial. On a W10 HP machine I sent to bookmark as I always do. I doesn't appear in the bookmarks. I sent a tutorial from a Win 8.1 machine to the W10 machine and tried to bookmark. No bookmark. The 8.1 has no problems. Whay won't W10 bookmark? Thanks.

I usually use control + D and a menu appears. Sometimes I cannot locate it afterwards and I find I put it in a different folder by accident. To resolve, I redo the bookmark and place in either the correct folder or the "Other Bookmarks" (General) and then drag it into the correct folder.I use Chrome but I know Firefox and am sure Explorer is same or similar.

Employers steal far more money from their employees than robbers steal from victims. On Wednesday, lawmakers will introduce a bill aimed at tamping down on the wage theft epidemic.
Democratic Sens. Patty Murray (WA) and Sherrod Brown (OH) with Rep. Rosa DeLauro (CT) will unveil the Wage Theft Prevention and Wage Recovery Act, a bill that would beef up existing protections and add some new provisions to make it less appealing for the country’s bosses to stiff workers on wages by refusing to pay at least the minimum wage, denying overtime pay, making people work off the clock, stealing tips, or illegally misclassifying them.
The legislation would do a number of things, but chief among them is increasing how much workers can demand back from cheating employers and making the penalties for cheating stiffer. Currently, workers can only seek back pay at the minimum wage, even if their hourly rate is above that, but the bill would allow them to recoup their full compensation. Employees could also seek triple the wages they’re owed in damages, which is currently limited to double their wages, plus interest on what they were supposed to be paid. The lawmakers also propose increasing current civil penalties and creating new ones for violating minimum wage and overtime laws, cheating on record keeping, and repeating willful violations.

Some Florida counties, Pinellas and Hillsborough, have similar programs. I contacted them on an employer that owes me over $1500 in wages and they referred me to the Federal Dept of Labor. They are currently contacting the employer.

From what I understand, the county agencies do not have enforcement powers. They can request payment but if the employer refuses, it must go to mediation and then possibly small claims court (which costs $250 to file).

Although many employers may pay, there are some who will simply refuse. I fear I may have encountered one. This one has a couple hundred previous charges and a stint in prison for fraud over $100,000.

I ran a computer search on him and his company before accepting employment, but I used what I assumed was his Christian name, Benjamin, where the offenses were listed under the shortened Benny Calzon.

Live and learn.

I've posted photos of this location before. It is located between Palm Harbor and Tarpon Springs. Great birding location on the Gulf as well as a fresh-water spring. They are enlarging it by about 120 acres within the next few years so it will be even better.

Within fifty yards of parking we saw Great whites, GBH, small blue, egrets, Roseate Spoonbill, Tri-colored, Osprey and ducks.

These photos are to illustrate the diversity more than artistic content. We frequently find many species to capture.

Downtown St. Pete is booming as I understand.... I lived in E. Lake for a long time before moving to Bama.... Nice shots of the murals.

We actually went to see the ship "Lynx". They were having an art festival and preparing for the "Grand Prix".

I like "feeding the dog under the table" best and second for me is the "girl with Doberman". That one makes me wonder if the dog is muzzled to protect the girl or to keep the dog from killing any bullies or passers by.

Won't venture an opinion but very life-like.

Much nicer than graffiti. Very talented artists. Haven't visited St Pete yet...will have to go sometime. ;-)

There are quite a few more of these. We were in a hurry so only spent about a half hour. We were there around eight in the morning, otherwise, it is more crowded.

I found a very nice (and heavy) Manfrotto tripod at a garage sale with the 8265 Pistol Grip head. The head doesn't lock in position when you release the trigger (or not very well, anyway). I did some searching and there is a small screw that you're supposed to be able to adjust, but it looks like a stripped allen head. Also the tripod camera plate is missing. The reviews I've read on the head are mixed. I like the idea of having a pistol grip head, but I'm not sure it's worth getting repaired (or where to have that done) and buying a new plate. Any experience with this head or thoughts on the matter would be appreciated. Should I just scrap it and get a good ball head?

You may find this site instructional and fun. If you go to the bottom of original Camera Sim and click "view" you can change shutter speed, ISO and aperture to see their relationships.

They also have Iphone and desktop apps you can pay to download. The free version will give you a lot to think about.

Enjoy!

Some of you who follow my posts may remember this photo from 2014--so the photo part is a revisiting, but here is the rest of the story about my Exhibit.

The United States Botanical Society, in conjunction with the National Park Service, is opening an Exhibit on the flora of the national parks. The exhibit opens February 18 in Washington D.C. and runs through late October. The exhibit will be traveling later in the year. Two of my photos have been chosen to be reproduced as banners printed on canvas for the entry to the exhibit. In addition I will be speaking on photographing the flora of the National Parks on several dates yet to be announced.

So if you are going to be in D.C. please stop by and see the exhibit.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and I hope you enjoy the photo (it will be one of the banners).
