O.K. here's some advice from a really old fool. THE BEST TOOL you have is yours eyes and your mind. train them first and all the rest will fall into space. A big lumbering camera--like a Nikon or a Canon is a tool for a pro.
I am 84 years young and have been playing with cameras for 60 years; know what I just recently purchased ?
An Olympus SH-1 refurb direct from the factory. $300.
It fits into a shirt pocket, has a 24X zoom and many other goodies. For now--that's all you need.

OH---sure; know exactly where that is. I live in Lebanon, a suburb of Stringtown, between Thorntown and Whitestown.

Recently, I purchased an OLYMPUS SH-1 (I have several other Olympus models.) I am "blown away" with pictures it produces. It is slightly larger than a pack of cigs; it will easily slip into a shirt pocket. I bought it as a refurb directly from Oly. It cost a couple of hundred bucks; it has a modest zoom lens and many useful programs.
Who could ask for anything more???? Alyn
GREAT SERIES ! amusing. Where were these oddities captured.
Do you have any information about them ????? Alyn
Years ago, we had relatives living near Sedona and we made annual excursions there. I often made the claim that "I could stand in one spot and burn up a roll of film." ( I said it was years ago !) One day I actually tried it--and sure enough--I really did it. Each shot was unique and each shot was better than the last one.
It TRULY IS A MAGICAL SPOT. No photographer should miss an opportunity to shoot SEDONA.

Your note is OUTPUT...what you are awaiting is INPUT.
ALYN
I will certainly VOTE FOR THAT !!!! If they are FOR us... who shall stand against us?
Alyn
I DON'T KNOW who wrote this note----but I don't believe I did. I DO DISCLAIM any knowledge OF THIS NOTE.
However It does seem like good advice.

Cholly: Thanks for the birthday wishes ! Alyn
Sandito. Does that rhyme with Bandito? :-)
When you have a choice between BOLD and meek--BE BOLD. It's a lot of fun. Reach out to the pro's in your town. Is there a photo club in your community... if not...start one. Any "Pro" would be honored to have an apprentice.
Start small and grow and GROW.

Sandito: For the moment, do not become addicted to the "mechanics" of the camera; instead, put your camera on automatic and train your eye and your mind to SEE pictures.
I have been taking pictures for 50-60 years and now have come full-circle. I use an Olympus SH-1. It has a modest zoom and many programs. It is about the size of a deck of cards and easily fits into a pocket.
Yes, You do need to know the mechanics of a camera. But for now, read all you can about cameras, talk to photographers, ask questions, and study pictures taken by well know photographers. And yes do read Ugly HedgeHog.

Chery: I sure hope they get it RIGHT this time. Friend of mine jumped on the bandwagon. He is SORRY now !

Nice Picture!!! I have a BUNCH of similar shots. We have a vacation home in Pigeon Forge. Just returned a couple of weeks ago.

There a few--VERY FEW-- places in this world, where it is difficult NOT to take a great picture. Venice must be one of those places.
