No, that's not it at all. As an example - I was trying to take a photo of an apple on a branch with bright sky behind, but the brightness of the sky caused the camera to set a "fast" exposure and the apple came out dark, very underexposed. So I moved my view into the tree away from the sun and locked my exposure to properly expose the foliage, then moved my view back to the apple (with the exposure still locked) and focused on the apple, to end up with the apple in focus and properly exposed.

I'm with Bud S on this one. I sometimes find it useful to , especially when shooting into or near into bright sun.

Thanks. I can do that. My add-on question was since I have a AF-ON button, and I use that for BBF, what to do with the AE-L/AF-L button. Do you leave it as AE-L only, then if you want to lock the focus you have to push two buttons. OR leave it as locking both Exposure and Focus, but then you cannot lock Exposure only. How often do people need to lock Exposure and Focus separately?

assign AE-L/AF-L for Exposure lock to lock the exposure, otherwise, when you press the release button the exposure will be used that meter reading as of that moment.

Hi all, have not post any question for a long while, as an old saying "it's wise & learn more by listen instead of talking!!".
Her's my set-up, I have a monopod attached to my belt or camera case (off ground), should I turn the VR off?
I am using D610 with the 28-300 zoom.

Try the 24-102mm f/4g and/or 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6 VR II, both are walking around all purpose and light, hight quality and doesn't cost that much... I have the 70-200mm f/2.8, don't use this lens much at all, it's a great lens but toooo heavy to carry around on my vacation besides adding weight on luggage!!! good luck.

Does/can Lightroom 4 install/use by itself or does it work with Photoshop as add-on only?
