Jim as usual your images are truly wonderful not many will realize how hard it is to shoot white on white and retain highlight and shadow detail, but i know what kind of technical nightmare this is... great job and beautiful image, and wonderful and amazing tonal range.. your the best! i'm guessing the white balance is the egg standing on end...

Ty Loquey....actually egg standing on end represents a balanced diet?
Wow......just looked through 18 pages of photos and fantastic advice. A lot of awesome photos posted, Would like to make comments on all but was helping my 85 year old father today and my wrist with carpal tunnel is throbbing.
Great examples and settings info and suggestions. One of many probs is getting excited and not checking settings.I don;t know half of what my cam can do...might say i am intimidated by technology.
Welcome to Day 167:) Today it's all about Pet Portraits .. now I realize not everybody has a pet ..but I'd be willing to bet your friends and family do or your neighbor .. or the people at the local park. Just do the best you can .. and by the way we will count the birds that come to eat in your back yard. For my part I decided to attempt to get the heathens to pose .... Not going to happen lol .. ever !! So I got them in action the best I could. I had to take about 125 photos to only manage to get 1 decent one of each of them. So here are a few examples to get us started. I look forward to seeing what y'all come up with.

Pets are wonderful. I have lost my sweet Rowdy after 15 years, but he is still dear to my heart. We now have sweet O'Malley who actually belongs to our neighbors. However, O'Malley adoped us because they have two large dogs, so he now lives with us. <smile>

Pets from present and past. Some have been posted before.
Smudge one of our present cats. She always lays with her back feet spread out like that. Spookie, our other cat, loves to be wrapped up in the sheets.
Lazi.. Passed away many years ago, and still missed today. My daughter and the neighboor kid dressed her up, and she didn't care. After they left she fell a sleep just as they left her. My daughters was about 10 then.
The last one is Michelle, Mac for short, and Barney, in the mid 1970's from an old slide. Gotta love that blue shag carpeting, and the matching PJ's on Mac...;0)
