Yes, in the long run it will be cheaper. If in the meantime you need better lenses buy FX glass. They will work well on your DX and you will have a head start on glass when you move to a FX body.

I wish I had known that when I started buying lenses for my D90. I would have aimed for FX.

I too made that mistake. Lots of reselling later I was still out a lot of dollars :-(
Wish I had asked that question myself earlier. BTW, how is your roof coming along? Also, is your D600 holding in there- still no spots? Mine is still at Nikon, Melville for cleaning. Frankly I was afraid to try cleaning it myself since it wasn't just dirt but oil and even though I am unhappy not having my camera it was under warranty and I figured if the spots reappear I would have a solid case for replacement from Nikon directly. Regards.

The roof is up, so now they have to finish putting the shingles on and doing the trip. They have also started working inside, replacing the ceilings and some walls upstairs. Then they'll have to repair to lower roof of the house and the garage roof.

My wife is coming home from the hospital tomorrow, so I'll have to make room for a hospital bed in the living room and put up something over the doorway to keep the heat in as the guys go in and out and up and down the stairs. She doesn't like the cold, and we'll have to stop using the wood stove because of her breathing problems. It's more difficult keeping the temp up with the oil heat.

Jerry, sorry to hear about your wife, wish you both all the best, and a speedy recovery for her. House damage, I know what you're going through, have the same here on Long Island, 2 trees fell on mine. Extensive repair. Hang in there !

I get the impression that a lot of purists do not like using photoshop... I am afraid that I like what I like and have no problem in editing my photos to maximise the results....

You're doing a great job so far, keep it up, all your pics are great!

in the 40's and 50's there were documentorys on what the new technologys make happen.shorter work weeks and more time with the family. today we have 50 and 60 hr work weeks and mothers that "have" to work [ even if they would rather not] to make ends meet or afford the " american dream". every time i have gome to the zoo or metroparks i've been blessed to see mothers able to spend time with their children and not "have" to drop them off in day care.

I want to purchase the 70-200mm Canon L lens, but I am not sure which to purchase. I am thinkiking about the F 4 with IS or the F 2.8 without IS. The F 2.8 with IS is $1,000 more. Thanks for your input. I am open to other suggestions.

My suggestion is to rent these lenses first and give them a try,
I rented both ;without IS and with IS, and finally settled on the one with IS. It depends on what you intend to use this lens for. A good place to rent from is "Lensgiant.com", found them to be cheaper than all the other rental sites on line.

John,
You don't have to read the posts from those who use the site for commercial reasons.
As to the professional photographers on UHH - I have found that while they don't make it a secret that they earn (or have earned) a living with their photogrphy, they also are more than willing to help those who have not reached that level of expertise.
So, no, I don't find it worrying at all, I can put up with a bit of commercialism, and welcome the professional photographers here!

Exactly.. I would like to do more photos like that..

I use a program called "Color Splash Studio", on a Mac. This can also be done in Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 or 10.

I have been wanting to know how to get an object in color while the background or other objects are black and white.

Take this apple photo for example.

Is this what you are looking to do ?
