I have been looking into acquiring my very first DLSR camera and up until now have been using my grandfathers Canon rebel xti and my fathers Canon Rebel t5i. I am looking into the Canon EOS 7D but was wondering if the Nikon D7200 wouldn't be better for stills. I plan on using it for my kids sporting events and for taking weddings and other family portraits. I'd like to start a small photography business/hobby but was unsure of which way to head. How do the lenses stack up with each? Any information would be greatly appreciated. I have heard that Canon has a better lineup with cameras taking videos but Nikon is better off on stills. I also heard that Nikon has a little bit better set of lenses versus Canon

Hands down, Canon 7DmII for sports and low light. 10 FPS capture speed and a gazillion focus points. Fast lenses like Canon 'L' series lens help too. Just my 2c worth.

Lol...how many hundreds of these do we see a year?

OP: Should I buy X camera or Y camera? I want to move up.

UHH Chorus: X! or Y! (or any number of other wallet draining scenarios)

The UHH is singlehandedly keeping Canon and Nikon's digital camera divisions alive :)

Amen !

Yah....I think that demise means death but beyond that, I've seen figures that say that DSLR's have peaked (a few years ago) and now their popularity is on the decline.

I'm not that surprised; how many ways can you change or tweak the same piece of gear to make it seem exciting enough to cause a person who just purchased a camera 2 or 3 years ago to part with it and purchase a new one?

That's the game, they have to recruit new users and cause the old users to turn over their gear and start again.

I'm surprised that they've been this successful this long.

Was trying out a different lens and took this shot to check detail capabilities. The colors of the stones and in the water are from bright morning sunlight reflected under the tree canopy. My eye did not see these colors, the camera did. Minor pp, brightness, contrast, touch of sharpening.

Elements works fine on my Mac running Yosemite, thats 8, 10, 11 & 12. I cannot answer if 13 runs, but have not heard that it does not.

I would suggest that if you want Photoshop, sign up for the creative cloud subscription - Latest Lightroom & Photoshop, always updated for $10.00 a month - Cheap.
