I have to go with the 2nd one. The 1st is a bit blurry & has a green tint to it. the 3rd is blurry.

Thanks much for your opinion! Looks like one and two are running neck to neck. We'll probably know by Friday who the winner is.

Good morning,
I tend to lean towards number 2, I like the way the sunlight is on the horns, but I might tone down the saturation a bit between the horns. Much luck on your submission...

Thanks much I really like the way other photographers can pic out the small details ie sun shining on horns. Comments are very much apppreciated

I posted this a couple of days ago but only got three respondents
one of whom declined an opinion. So here it is again. edit: I just had another look at the other thread; 3 more respondents.

Imagine you are a judge in a photo competition and you need to
select one of the images over the other

The theme: Leading lines.

Remember that a theme and how close the image complies with the theme is not normally "The" key criteria in judging a photo. An esoteric compliance with a theme is ok especially if the theme is artistic, as is leading lines... as opposed to a technical theme such as slow shutter speed.

Important criteria (imho) are artistic and technical competence and how easily you could live with the picture hanging on a wall at home or in your office.

These days of a dodecasquadrillion cameras
and the fact that some sort of camera is carried by most,
we are flooded with images we've seen a thousand times before.
So originality in a photo, being harder to achieve now than ever before, could be a criteria too. So originality may or may not be a criteria
depending on the judges (your) view point.

This is kind of important to me as I've relatively recently joined a camera club, I entered one of the photos above and it came second to the other... that was submitted by a long standing member. I think I was discriminated against possibly on the grounds of "seniority". And I reckon
pictures should be judged on merit, not on seniority of club membership.

I need confirmation though, that I'm not looking at my work through my own, possibly biased eyes and letting my ego make a fool of me.

So I appreciate your input. Please vote for the better picture.

Number 2 for sure. In 1 the road lines seem to me to lead to no where. The back mountain was probably the object in your imagination when you took the pic but what part of the Mt? The entire Mt. is too far away and to me has no interesting points of interest The road Mt in this takes up too much of the pic and it appears almost higher
than the Mt in the back ground. Your second one has great lines leading to the subject but I couldn't figure out what the subj. is .I have Mtn. pics on my web page which is found in the info box AVTAR for everyone. Thanks for having the guts to ask for constructive criticism. It makes for rapid improvement. Robin

Technically these are not true HDR images. They are each from one original jpeg. One has been tone-mapped once the second is three times. I'm just experimenting.Original image is included.

No.1 is really cool. No.3 when compared to #1, dull. Neat work on 1 & 2. To me No 2 is overdone but still an interesting change as photography takes on a painted personality

I wish I'd had my good camera with me, but at least I had my P&S. These were taken from the passenger side window. The ducks were just cute sitting there. The Canada geese were bedding down for the night right next to the driveway out of the mall with heavy traffic! They were both lying down but one got up before I could shoot. And the little ground hog broke my heart! They're cutting down trees again around our apartment and chasing wildlife away. This little guy was running frantically right across the parking lot in front of our car. I talked to him and he stopped for a second and looked at me. I feel sooo bad for all the birds and other little animals. (And there isn'lt one tiny bud on the tree in our courtyard that they pruned so drastically!).
I wish I'd had my good camera with me, but at leas... (show quote)

Pretty pics of an interesting cross section of wildlife. Had you brought along your other camera you'd gotten out of the car and NEVER reached your destination

Suggest the Fall as the colors will blow you away and there's less people

That's a beautiful shot; I like the way you framed the lake with the trees.

Thanks Sirius. Have seen lots of shot of the island and lake but never framed, so I thought, what the heck I'll think and compose outside the box, and bingo. Glad you like it!!

I have a number of shots from this location, but none this good. The framing does it.

Like how do you take a bad pic of this scene Thought framing it with the trees was a bit different. Appreciate our looking and commenting
