Well, first of all, my first paragraph was pure Capitalism, based entirely of the age-old principle of Supply & Demand. The fact that you couldn't recognize it just proves my point that you know nothing about economics.

Raising the min wage help the working class by giving them more money. The more important point is since they have more money to spend, they spend it, which helps businesses and the community overall. The old conservative line about it increasing unemployment has been proven time & time again to be a lie. Raising the min wage has NEVER had an effect on unemployment. This is fairly easy to understand --- the unemployment argument assumes that employers have a host of unnecessary workers they just keep around for no reason just because they have some extra cash --- which is of course, nonsense.

Unfortunately, like most Conservatives, you have no idea of how economics actually works.

They will take a job at a lower salary. This will force other to undercut them, and work even cheaper. Soon we have millions of people working full-time but still unable to afford to buy anything -- leading companies to go out of business (cheap workers are meaningless if you have no sales) -- leading to more unemployment, and more people working to lower pay.

Unemployment insurance keeps salaries for those working at reasonable levels.

So your friend is willing to break the law to get cheap labor rather than paying a decent wage to someone who is here legally? I imagine those undocumented that work for him are being paid under the table so they don't have to pay taxes, saving him more money. You can't convince me that there are more undocumented workers that are paying income tax than there are getting paid under the table and avoiding paying taxes. And that also relieves the employer of paying his share of taxes also. And is he paying into workman's comp for the illegal workers so that if they are hurt on the job they are covered? Probably not. The only reason anyone hires an undocumented alien is to save himself money. It has nothing to do with caring about others. And the workers are willing to do whatever it takes to keep their job so they don't risk being found out and deported or jailed.

If we would cut off the illegals from changing sheets and picking tomatoes it would open up jobs for legals who are on unemployment. Limit the amount of unemployment compensation that is available and pay them a decent wage and put them to work.
