Welcome to Day 193 :) Today it's all about Still Life. As much as I try I really suck at this topic LOL. I have no artistic eye for staging... so I decided to go a different route and post photos of things that are very still. Here are a few examples to get us started.. hope y'all have better luck than I did .. I look forward to seeing what y'all come up with.
Interesting shots! Are those fireflies in the last shot?
Nice job.
Actually, the top light is the moon and the lower light is a pole light. This was taken at a corn maze.
Sorry..it's from Kure Beach, NC. My favorite vacation spot!

Welcome to Day 192 :) Today it's all about Fabrics. I got to thinking .. I never just photograph fabrics .. so let's leave this wide open to interpretation. It can be clothing fabrics .. or the materials that make something up .. or whatever else you can think of with a little play on words. Here are a few examples to get us started .. I look forward to seeing what y'all come up with.

Welcome to Day 190 :) Today it's supposed to be all about busses .. mass transit. Unfortunately for me I spent all day waiting on the cable guy and by the time he came to our house it was dark .. so I didn't get out to take any photos. I have no examples to post at this moment.
So Lets make it a freestyle day. Just post anything that you want to share .. I'll get out later on today and shoot something LOL ... :) I look forward to seeing what y'all come up with on the spur of the moment.
Sorry, computer issues, it posted twice. I deleted pics but don't know how to get rid of quote reply.

G'day everyone
It was a cold, dark night. My daughter was driving me from my warm comfortable home in Sydney (yes, Australia!!!) to a cold, wet and dismal Melbourne (unfortunately also in Australia!! But that's another argument!!) when I awoke from my slumber to find the sun had set and we were traveling at 110kph (that's 110 kilometres per hour or, for you yanks, about 65mph)and thought I might pass the boredom by taking some pics of the pretty red, yellow, white etc reflectors and signs at the side of the road. Choosing a time when there was no oncoming traffic and a reasonably slow shutter speed I began snapping away through the windscreen. The combination of the slow shutter speed and the movement of the car (both forward and up and down with the bumps) created some interesting patterns - at least I think they are interesting. What do you guys and gals think? I have done no pp on these.

Great shots. It is fun to experiment. My wife bought solar powered lights for our yard and I decided to take a couple shots of them for fun and this is how they turned out.

Though I have great respect for our fire companies, these photos are from a lumber yard fire several years ago. Instead of spaying down the surrounding buildings, they hit the fire with their high pressure hoses and blew hot embers on the surrounding buildings and made the entire lumber yard ignite.
This truck was between the buildings
The fire jumped over the truck and ignited the building to the left
It wasn't long until it was fully engulfed

Welcome to Day 186 :) Today is going to be double duty... I had planned to post some settings for the fireworks tonight. However .. none of mine turned out LOL .. so I can tell you what not to do ...
Do Not us an aperture of f/5.0
Do Not use an ISO of 400
Do Not use a shutter speed of 1/8
Not one of my shots will be worth viewing without major post processing .. I was so excited and there was so much going on that I totally spaced on checking my settings.
That being said maybe some of you can figure it out and tell me LOL.
Today is mostly about Fishing on the Lake. So whatever that means to you. Whether its you fishing ... someone else fishing .. birds catching fish .. boating equipment used for fishing .. it's all about the locations and sport of Fishing. Here are a few examples to get us started .. I look forward to seeing what y'all come up with.

Welcome to Day 185 :) Today it's all about Decorative Wood. This is totally open to interpretation. It could mean anything from very ornate carved wood to plain beams used in construction. Go with what you feel .. your instincts are usually always right.
