Welcome to UHH Kevlon. You have picked two very good cameras. Can't comment on the Canon as I shoot Nikon, the D7100. The D7100 is one awesome camera. Too many bells & whistles to state here. Do your homework on the models you are considering. Get to a camera store and handle them. See how they feel in your hands. You maybe able to rent those models and take them out for a test drive. Only you can make the choice. Have fun and enjoy the forum.
Don

Thanks for pointing out about renting the models. That's a very good idea.

I think the photographer, camera, and lens should be of comparable quality for the most efficient results. If on is much weaker than the others, it needs to be upgraded to match the others. If one is much stronger than the others, it will generally be wasted.

The best photographer will not create masterpieces with poor equipment. And Tiger Woods will not win the Masters with average clubs. :-)

You alway have the best answers. Thanks.

Welcome. If you get the Canon… Lots of Canon glass to be had. Seems like you couldn't go wrong with either. All the aftermarket glass is available for both so… Maybe, go to the camera store and see what fells better in your hands. Thanks for your military service.

excuse dumb question: over the years, I have pictures stored all over the place in my computer. Does anyone know if an app that will detect all my photos and present a list of where they are? Windows 7 not my favorite thing now--

Picasa works for me. Directory on the left and an endless row of pictures on the right. You can rename the folders in the directory. I had in instructor in Hutchinson KS. tell the class to organize their pictures in Picasa. It's a free download.

Outstanding photography! I especially like the 6th image where you caught the car with all 4 wheels in the air, but every shot is top notch. Color and image detail is great. More magazine credits coming your way, I'm ure.
