Back in the Seventies a dedicated group of concerned people tried to increase awareness of the problem of over-population. Their 'Zero Population Growth' or ZPG program was a failure as far as I know. Since around 1940 our world population has more or less doubled. Exact numbers are really not necessary for this argument. The present population is out-stripping global resources. Water supply being at the top of the list.
Unless we humans take seriously the threat to our existence that we humans are causing, we are poising for some huge upsets. Re-examining long time held values about family size and family growth planning are essential to any success in dealing with our current over-use of water. I know that this is a controversial subject and I hope that rational responses will prevail. Paranoia and finger pointing really seem out of place. We have all contributed to this population growth, like it or not, that's a fact. What we do in the future to manage this requires serious re-thinking of long held concepts.
China recognized the problem of too many people and really fumbled the ball. They have since re-thought national policy and I cite this as an example for clarity only. You may have your own relevant example.
I will now hit the 'send' button and hope that the responses are measured and positive.

Ain't it grand? The internet provides the means for every nutcase to expound on his or her greatest phobia. The National Inquirer mentality is alive and well[?]

Be sure to take any small digital with an articulated LCD screen. I took some interesting perspective shots on the Eiffel Tower through the grates and bars that the big cameras could only dream about.

How about throwing the Angry Photographer into this comparative mix?
He has strong, but fair opinions and is driven by a desire to be helpful to those who seek further photographic knowledge.

Dear Engineer Al,
I've read your comments over a few times to make sure that I wasn't missing any of your intent. I think that I now grasp the crux of it. You are a pretty intelligent guy and accustomed to having what you say accepted as the truth. However you have been swept off your feet by your own beliefs and sadly won't tolerate anyone who disagrees.Your response to those with whom you disagree is to vilify and demean them. "Swat them down like so many pests"
You act like someone cornered and have become vicious and ugly, all the while spouting your idea of the truth as gospel.
It is sad to see you act this way, as many here who have read your comments have noted. You see the mildest of criticism as a deadly threat and react with unrestrained vitriol. These are not the actions of a reasonable, mature, well educated man, but those of a frightened paranoid. Please consider getting help before you hurt yourself or someone else.

Gee Al, Are you sure that you want to use Karl Marx? After all, he astutely observed that 'religion is the opiate of the masses'. After yesterday' free for all. I'd think that you'd want to take a low profile for a while! Have a good Memorial Day weekend.
By the way, in what branch of the armed services did you serve?

What is the problem here? This is a forum for photography and it seems, just about anything else that seems of interest.
When you draw religion into the mix, personally I find it out of place. Keep your religion to yourself, okay? Believe it or not, some of us find your religious arrogance terribly offensive.
Do I need to repeat that? Believe any goofy, weird, voodoo BS that you want, BUT please keep it to yourself.

Back down from your defensive position long enough to hear what some of us are saying: your religious views are yours BUT not necessarily mine. I don't want to hear your mystical, superstition fraught perspective. You want to talk about light, terrific!

It would seem that no one is answering your 'question' directly because the question that you are asking is mean spirited and self-serving. You know as well as the rest of us that this question cannot be adequately answered. Racism abounds, but for most people the rules have changed. Direct racists remarks are generally no longer tolerated on most social levels, however in some locals outright slurs are commonplace and tolerated. Racial intolerance can be found anywhere and displayed by anyone and you know that as well. Again, your question is unanswerable, and you know that as well. How much pleasure are you getting from all this attention? You must be very happy with yourself right now.

How has ANYONE made being black better? They shot ML King. You should read a book written in the 60's called "Black Like Me. It will give you insight into what being colored is all about.
I will not call you names and I'll do my best to treat you with respect, but you and those who share your attitude need to understand how incredibly lucky you are to be white. Go do your homework.

There is a Youtube video about an English couple [ He English, she German background] who decide to move to Germany and become 'Germans' for a year. It is an eye opener. The Brit has to learn the German work ethic which is much different than he is used to. He takes a job at a pencil factory, family owned and prosperous. Much of German industry , from this account, is similar. Long term investment, loyalty to workers and the strongest economy in Europe. Think about that. And Germany has plenty of strict regulations which protect the worker and the environment. They have lots of regulations and taxes too.
It would seem that here in the good old US of A, our entrepreneurs balk at regulation and taxes.....because they all want to get rich quick. Our country is suffering terribly from this attitude.
Blaming the government for regulations that protect us and that around us is short-sighted and in my mind childish. We have people in Wall Street with the emotional development of a three year old and they want what they want when they want it.
