My Bad, $550.00
Nikon AF-S-Nikkor 70-300 mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR IF M/A Lens
on Ebay $344.99 New
Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR Zoom Lens
on Ebay $895.00 New
First of all there is a $750.00 price point difference. That should say something about the 2 lenses.
I use the 28-300mm 80% of the time and when I need to get out farther I use a 17-50mm. I use 35mm as a brake point.
Other than a 2x teleconverter that's all I seem to have time for when I'm in the shooting Zone.
Craig
Thanks JW Smith
That sounds like a good rule of thumb.
In my shot did my shutter speed get pushed down because of the 2x teleconverter
Craig
Exposure Time = 1/60"
ISO = 250
F Number = F16
I'm guessing it's because the Moon is so bright, 250,000 miles and moving. The Lens is pushed to the max at 300mm I should have backed off to 280mm,(daylight shade) slow shutter speed and stopped at /16 to save some detail. It was underexposed and I tweaked the Auto Correct in MS Office Picture Mgr.
Question: What settings and tweaks do you use???
THANK YOU, THAT WAS TAKE 42
What kind of Post Processing is going on with your Photos
Craig
Those are all Great photos But what is he using, at what settings and how much PP does he do???
I use the Nikon 28-300mm 3.4-5.6 w/Tamaron 2x simply because I have to. It get's my D5300 crop out to 900mm.
Good shots @ 850mm but nothing I could publish.
Craig
Here's mine
Nikon D5200
Nikon 28-300mm FX
Tamaron 2x Teleconverter
Portrait Mode (I know but it worked)
Exposure Time = 1/60"
ISO Speed Ratings = 1/250
F Number = F16
Crop factor 300mmx1.6=480x2=960mm
On the Wide Angle issue I just step back until I get the angle I want or use my Tamaron 17-50mm, again it beats the 18-55mm 'Kit Lens'.
Craig
I use a Nikon D5300 w/18-55mm & 55-300mm. Tried the Tamaron 18-270mm and the Tamaron 2x Tele-converter. A really good all-in-One lens setup. Then I came upon a Nikon 28-300. WOW. If you can afford the 28-300 @ $700 it's the way to go. In the $300 price range it's the Tamaron 18-270mm for my money, both beat the "Kit Lenses."
