I am in a quandary. I have been trying to shot the super moon. I have a Nikon d5300, and have a 70-300 mounted. I am using a tripod, remote shutter button. have remove the auto focus, & the vibration button is off. I set my aperture to 8, various shutter speeds give me a variety of exposure shots. The problem is sharpness. I am willing to try anything you knowledgeable folks can come up with. I have followed this site for a couple of years now, and have every confidence in the brain trust that is UHH.

Well, I have done some re-testing with clear target and close to level. I could not find a difference using rear view or the eyepiece and that was big relief to me.
It was too windy for my tripod to actually set/measure/adjust fine AF but, did confirm that there is "pretty" good focus at 600mm.
The yardstick is about 15 meters (45 feet) and the target is about 40 meters (120 feet). The pattern on the target has 2pt - 24pt lines.

On a calm day I will do fine adjustment for focus. I'm still not 100% positive of the quality at 600mm and would like opinions.
